Varsity – The Varsity volleyball team remained undefeated in district play as they beat the Lamar Mustangs in 3 sets with scores of 25-14, 25-15, and25-18.   Kill leaders for the Longhorns were Brennan Flannery with 6 kills, Erica Hazen with 5 kills, and Jennifer Hopkins with 4 kills.   Ellie Gonzales led the offensive attack with 14 assists,  followed by Tori Luckenbill with 10. Defensively, Gabby Hernandez produced 12 digs for the Longhorns,  followed by Kayla Carey with 5 digs.   At the net, Callie Tiemann produced 4 blocks.   Ace leader for the night was Ellie Gonzales with 4 serve aces, followed by Erica Hazen with 3.

JV – The Longhorn JV team beat Lamar with scores of 25-4 and25-12.   Courtney Fishel served 14 points in a row in game one.   Caitlyn Pinkston served 9 point in game one.   Strong hitting came from Ambrielle Logan, Mattie Ward, Emily Rimes, Ainsley Mandel, and Meagan Meier.   Defensively, Chandler Appleby and Carly Thome took care of the backcourt, while setters Taylor Kennedy and Abby Messick ran the offense.   With the win, this brings the JV team’s season record to 16-3 and 5-0 in district play.

Freshman – The Longhorn volleyball teams played host to the Lamar Lady Mustangs last night at Longhorn Gym.   All three teams collected their 5th consecutive district win to remain undefeated in District 23-4A volleyball.   The freshman team beat Lamar with scores of 25-13 and 25-13 to bring their season record to 16-1 and district record to 5-0.

Congratulations to all three teams for staying strong and remaining undefeated in district. The Longhorns will play crosstown rival Foster here at Longhorn gym on Thursday evening beginning at 5 pm.
