Varsity – The Longhorn wrestlers competed in their first event of the season this past weekend at the Gator Roll tournament at Klein Collins High School. The Longhorns finished 4th overall behind Cy Woods, Klein Oak and Klein Collins. The Longhorns had seven medalists in their individual weight classes. This included fourth place finishes by Jakob Marine at 120 pounds, Josh Marine at 126 pounds, and Garrett Brinneman at 182 pounds. There was a second place finish by Joey Minkel at 220 pounds. The tournament champions who brought home gold for George Ranch were Corey Chartier at 145 pounds, Chris Greer at 195 pounds, and Brad Luvender at 285 Pounds. The most impressive moment of the tournament came when Chris Greer pinned his opponent from Klein Forest in just 20 seconds! The Longhorns’ next competition will be on Tuesday, November 20th when they take on Seven Lakes and Katy Taylor at Taylor High School. That will also be the first competition for the new and improved Longhorn Girls’ Varsity program.

JV – The Longhorn JV wrestling team competed this past Saturday at the Gator Roll tournament at Klein Collins High School. Finishing in third place were Alexander Aronson, Bailey Reyhons and Ryan Tse. The second place finishers were Johnny Doung, Colin Flannery and J. D. Pope. The champions in their weight classes were Michael Corvo, Brad Cross, Jalin King and Cole McKnight. The JV wrestlers’ next event will be on Wednesday, November 28th at Cinco Ranch HS.
