Varsity – The Varsity girls’ basketball program also traveled to Northbrook High School to take on the class 5A Raiders in their first game of the season. The Varsity Longhorns fell to the Raiders in a close battle with a score of 42-38. The Longhorns trailed the Raiders 25-16 in the first half, but rallied back the third quarter to be up by 4 going into the 4th. A string of turnover led the Raiders to gain the 4-point lead. The Longhorns were led by Diamond Hosey with 15 points and 9 steals. Alima Bangura added to the Longhorn effort with 7 points and 8 rebounds. The Longhorns will travel to Baytown Lee tomorrow to take on the Galena Park Yellow Jackets in the first tournament of the year.

JV – The JV girls’ basketball team traveled to Northbrook High School yesterday and came away with a decisive victory–with a final score of 65-21. Every player on the team scored. Desirea Martinez contributed many assists to each player, and high point scorers were Shavon Pittman, Chigozie Ogbonna, Cerenitee Adams, and Hanna Morales. Contributing with great defense were Savannah Brown and Ezinne Eke. Way to go, Longhorns!

Freshman – The Freshman girls’ basketball team visited Northbrook High School yesterday, and they put away the Raiders with a score of 32-15. The team was led by Rita Okoye with 11 points, and Chinwe Eke who also scored 11.
