Freshman – The freshman girls’ basketball team took on the Foster Lady Falcons on Tuesday night in their first district game. The Longhorns dominated from the first minute outscoring their opponent every quarter. The freshman girls kept the Falcons to only scoring 6 points the entire game. Leading scorers for the night were Rita Okoye with 13 points and Colbie Coleman with 8 points. The freshman beat the Lady Falcons 35-6 to start off 1-0 in district.

JV – The JV Ladies opened up district basketball play against the Foster Lady Falcons and came away with a victory. The final score was 34-28. Key contributors to the offense were Chigozie Ogbonna with 14 points, Cerenitee Adams with 6 points, and Savannah Brown with 5 points. The defense was led by Shavon Pittman, Chigozie Ogbonna, and Ezinne Eke. The overall record for the JV is 5-3, and 1-0 in district.

Varsity – The varsity girls’ basketball team started district play with the reigning district champ Foster Falcons. The Falcons led the Longhorns by 6 after the 1st quarter. The Longhorns scored even with the Falcons in the second to bring the half time score 23-17 with the Longhorns trailing by six. The Longhorns scored 10 within the 3rd, matching the Falcons for a score at the end of the 3rd 33-27. During the fourth, the Longhorns had a string of turnovers and missed shot opportunities that led to a Falcon run, ending with a score of 55-35. The Longhorns were led by Diamond Hosey with 14 points and Kendall Bess with a double double, having 10 points 19 rebounds. The Longhorns travel to Wharton for tournament play this weekend.
