Basketball

Freshman – The freshman team continued their winning streak against the Terry Lady Rangers last Tuesday. The game started off slow with the first quarter score being 5 – 6. The Longhorns then picked up their play and ended up outscoring the Rangers 30 – 10. Top scorers for the night were Leneece Haynes with 12 points and Jessica Conde with 7 points. The girls added to their winning streak with a 46-43 win over the Angleton Wildcats on Friday. Kearah Nails led the Longhorns with 14 points and a multitude of steals. Also adding to the Longhorn effort were Colbie Coleman and Hanna McClendon with 6 points. Excellent job, ladies, let’s keep up the good work.

JV – On the road at Terry High School last Tuesday, the JV ladies continued their winning ways, beating the Terry Lady Rangers by a score of 33-30. Leading the team with several assists was Tori Mai, and chipping in with 11 point was Shavon Pittman. Playing great defense were Savannah Brown, Chelsea Whitley, and Maddie Smith. The Longhorns were also 60% from the free throw line. This brings the JV record to 6-3 overall, and 2-0 in district play.

Varsity – The Varsity Lady Longhorns took on the Terry Rangers in a district match-up last Tuesday. The Longhorns fell to an athletic Ranger squad 45-65. The Longhorns were led by Kendall Bess who had 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Ashley Ng who was 3 of 5 from the 3-point line with 9 points. The Varsity team fell to the Wildcats 32-49 on Friday. Diamond Hosey led the Longhorn effort with 11 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Olivia West and Enaya White both had 6 points to add to the efforts. The Longhorns travel to Lamar on Tuesday to continue district play.
