The girls’ Varsity basketball team traveled to Wharton this past weekend for tournament play, and started out with a strong 5A matchup against Dulles. The Longhorns fell to the Vikings with a score of 47-37 but came back strong in the second game with a win over Danbury to place them in the Consolation championship. The Longhorns fell to Fort Bend Travis in the Consolation championship game. After being down by 8 at the half, a string of turnovers allowed Travis to outscore the Longhorns 25-4 in the 3rd quarter. The Longhorns fought back in the 4th outscoring Travis 18- 4, but it was not enough to clinch the win. First team all-tournament went to Olivia West who scored 28 points and had 12 steals. The Longhorns take on the Terry Rangers tomorrow at Terry.
