Varsity – The varsity men’s wrestling team traveled to Katy Taylor HS on Saturday to participate in the Mustang’s dual tournament. The Longhorns faced some of the best teams in Katy ISD along with the best of the Houston private schools. The Longhorns came away with a 5th place finish overall. Standouts included Chris Greer, Nick Tripicchio and the Marines. Some of the best displays of toughness were put on by Alex Chartier and Alex Aronson. Joey Minkel broke the fastest pin for the season record with a win in 13 seconds.
Women – The Longhorn Women wrestlers were finally able to face some opponents this past Saturday at Katy Taylor HS. The Longhorns took first place with their final defeats of Morton Ranch and Katy Taylor. The standouts included Loren Braun, Shelby McArthur and Naomi Minturn. The ladies will continue to battle opponents wherever they can find them.
JV – The JV wrestlers competed at Katy Taylor this past Saturday. For several of them, this was their first official match. The team represented GRHS very well. Those standing out were Blake Whichard, Caleb Martinez and Daniel Valdez. The JV will compete at Lamar HS on Wednesday, December 5th at 5:00.
