Varsity – The Varsity girls played in an epic double overtime battle against the Foster Lady Falcons. The Longhorns kept the 0-0 tie going into the second ten minute overtime where they gave up a late goal to Foster off a corner kick. Michelle Mills racked up 23 saves in the goal on the night for the Longhorns, while Danielle Martinez,Julia Linton, and Raven Towns all put up strong defensive efforts. The entire team played with Longhorn pride and effort all over the field. This game brings their district record to 4-2 and 14-4 overall. The girls will start the second round of district play on Tuesday at home at 6:00pm against Marshall.
JV – And the beat goes on…The JV girls finished the first round of district play undefeated. The Friday night win over Foster pushed their record to 11-0 for the season and 4-0 in district play. The Longhorns were lead offensively by Maddy Nicholson, Ally Dernehl, Colleen Janecek and Cerenette Adams all scoring goals. Justine LaPlante and Janet Avalos both had assists on the night. A solid defensive effort was lead by Madeline Bares, Kendall Bess, Nora Harrison, and Sandy Morisivais.
