Varsity – The Varsity baseball team traveled to Angleton last night to begin district play and came back with a 6-1 win. Will Gay started on the mound for the Longhorns and went 6 innings giving up 4 hits and only 1 earned run, while striking out 7. Jonathan Kastens came in to close out the game giving up only 1 hit and striking out 1. The offense was lead by Kyle Owen who was 2 for 4, Stone Garrett who was 2 for 3 with a double and RBI, and Chad Romere with clutch hits going 2 for 3 and driving in 3 runs. Cameron Boudreaux and Will Gay each had a hit and RBI. The Longhorns finish up tournament play beginning Thursday at Langham Creek and return to district play next Tuesday here at the Ranch.

JV Maroon – The JV Maroon baseball team defeated Angleton in its district opener by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday night. Kevin Kopps pitched 6 innings giving up only one run and recording 5 strikeouts. Sarah Hudek closed the game out in the 7th facing 4 batters and striking out 3. Josh Balba led the Longhorns offensively, hitting 3 for 3 on the night including a hit in the 5th inning that drove in what turned out to be the game winning run. The team continues play this week at the LCISD JV baseball tournament.

JV Black – The JV Black baseball team defeated the Angleton Wildcats last night by a score of 12-1. Christian Elizondo pitched a complete game to earn the win for the Longhorns, while Ryan Johnston had two hits. The Longhorns play the Brazosport Exporters on Thursday night in Sweeny.
