Varsity – The Varsity softball team lost 9-3 to Fort Bend Bush on Friday at GRHS despite Natasha Cabucio’s three-hit day at the dish. Cabucio got a hit in each of her three at bats. She doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the second and sixth innings. Cabucio baffled Fort Bend Bush, striking out 12 batters. She allowed five earned runs, 15 hits and one walk over seven innings. After pushing across one run in the bottom of the third, the Longhorns faced just a 5-1 deficit. An RBI single by Ashley Kopps triggered George Ranch’s comeback. A two-run double by Alyssa Curts also sparked the Longhorn rally, but it wouldn’t be enough.

JV – It was a great weekend of softball at the Ranch! On Friday, two pitchers joined forces to throw a no-hitter for JV in a 13-2 victory in four innings over Bush at GRHS. Perrie Frazier and Lupita Nowak tallied nine strikeouts and walked four in completing the no-no. Bush couldn’t get anything going so long as Frazier was on the hill. She held Bush hitless over one inning, allowing no earned runs. Twelve runs in the opening three innings allowed the Longhorns to easily put away Bush. An error, an RBI single by Heidi Hamp, an RBI double by Amy Escobar, an RBI double by Gabrielle Cooke-Young, and a two-run double by Marley Potter during the first inning, along with a solo home run by Frazier in the second inning, supplied the early offense for George Ranch. Hamp went a perfect 3-3 at the plate for the Longhorns. George Ranch hammered Bush pitching as six hitters had a field day, combining for 12 hits, seven RBIs and nine runs scored.
