Varsity – The Longhorn Varsity baseball team concluded the first round of district this past Thursday with a win over Terry by a score of 5-3. Grant Page started on the mound going 5 innings with 4 hits and 5 strikeouts while earning the win. Wes Thompson came in to close out the last two innings and get the save after giving up 3 earned runs. The offense was led by Blake Sisco who was 2 for 4 with a double, Kyle Owen who was 2 for 3 with a double, and Graham Lavine who was 2 for 3 with two doubles. Sisco, Owen, Lavine, Chad Romere, and Will Gay each had RBI’s. The win puts the Longhorns with a 5-1 record in district as they begin round 2 tonight against Angleton here at the Ranch.
JV Maroon – The JV Maroon baseball team hosted Terry on Thursday night and defeated the Rangers 12-0. Sarah Hudek picked up the win on the mound throwing 6 strikeouts in 4 innings. Brady Burns led the hitting going 3 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBIs. Kevin Kopps and Mitchell North added 2 hits and 2 runs each on the way to the victory. The team moves to 5-1 in district and will travel to Angleton tonight.
