JV Maroon – The JV Maroon football team traveled to Houston last night and beat Alief Hastings 42-8. The win gives the team a 4-0 record on the season. Michael Scruggs led the offensive charge with 4 touchdowns. Blake Whichard and Zach Loskie also scored touchdowns for the Horns. The defensive charge was led by Kristian Novosad, Tessylim Anifowoshe, Michael Iriele, and Amir Mitchell. The Longhorns open district play next Wednesday here at the Ranch. Kickoff is set for 7:00pm.

JV Black defeated Alief Hastings 14-0. Scoring for the Longhorns were Chandler Zamora and Justin Hermes. The defense was led by Marcus Holcolm and Tyler Canale.

Freshman Maroon – The Freshman Maroon football team improved its record to 4-0 last night by beating Alief Hastings 34-0. CJ Rubio scored the first touchdown with Chima Amushie adding the second. Aaron Castellano recovered a fumble for a touchdown with an Antonio Jackson pass to Quintin Morris for the two-point conversion. With the score 20-0, Brent Ugo found the endzone twice and Jackson added 2 more points. Defensive standouts were Castellano, Bear Macias, Aaron McGee, Brad Armstrong, and Zach Edwards. The Longhorns open district play next Wednesday as they travel to Foster to take on the Falcons.

Freshman Black – The GRHS Freshman Black team took on the Alief Hastings Bears last night at Longhorn Field. The ground game of the Longhorns was dominant as Trenton Harrell, Alex Fontenot and Champion Allison combined for several miles of yards. Harrell scored the first touchdown, and Allison scored the next three. The defense was led by Amaechi Oghor and Sergio Martinez. The defense was also responsible for a score with a safety. The Longhorns travel to Foster next week to start their district run against the Falcons.
