Freshman Black – The Freshman Black football team started its district run by defeating the Foster Falcons last night 26-6. Special teams were the key to the victory. They were led by the kicker Sergio Martinez who kept the birds pinned all night. He also contributed by getting a touchdown reception from quarterback Trenton Harrell. Harrell also had a rushing touchdown and a second touchdown pass to receiver Champion Allison. The rushing leader of the night was Alex Fontenot who also added a touchdown. The defense was led by Colton Turner, Kent Poynter and Samuel Barnes. The defense was able to keep the Falcons on their heels most of the night. The Longhorns will square off against the Rangers next week.

Freshman Maroon – The Freshman Maroon team began district play last night by traveling to Foster and coming away with a 42-21 win. The Longhorns overcame some first quarter hiccups and then got the offense going in the air. Antonio Jackson connected to Quintin Morris for a touchdown, and Chima Amushie added the two. Jackson again connected with Morris for a 70-yard touchdown pass and then added the two by connecting with Kyle Curtis for the two. Jackson pounded the ball in for the Longhorns’ third touchdown. The second half saw another air attack with Jackson connecting with Morris again for a touchdown. The offensive line did a great job up front, and Brent Ugo pounded down the field for two more touchdowns and a two-point conversion. The defense held off the Falcons’ driving attempt to end the game. The Longhorns will continue district play next week as they host the Terry Rangers.

JV Black – Last night the JV Black Longhorns won their first district game against the Foster Falcons 20-12. Chandler Zamora and Will McClellen scored offensively for the Longhorns, while Willie Rose scored on an interception. Playing well for the defense were Roland Davis (also with an interception), Jordan Mullens, James Hasty and Marcus Holcolm.

JV Maroon – The JV Maroon football team ran their record to 5 wins and no losses last night with a 14-0 victory over Foster. Josh Scruggs had a huge night with a 70-yard touchdown run and numerous long runs on the night. Zach Loskie scored on a pass from Blake Wichard, then ran in the 2-point conversion to cap the scoring. The defense did not allow a point for the 3rd consecutive week. Kristian Novosod and Amir Mitchell stood out defensively for the Horns. The Longhorns travel to Terry next Thursday to battle the Rangers. Kickoff is set for 7:00pm.
