JV Maroon – The JV Maroon team ran its record to 7-1 on the season with a 34-6 win over Lamar last night. Zade Nieto hit Will McClellen on a 90-yard touchdown pass to open the scoring for the Horns. Josh Scruggs and Byron Clarke each scored two touchdowns. Ben Willis, Kristian Novosad, Kachi Ngwaba, Jordan Mullens, Trevor Helms, and Marcus Holcomb led the defensive effort. Josh Detiveaux also contributed to the defense with an interception. The Longhorns will be open this coming week.

Freshman Maroon – The Freshman Maroon team improved to 8-0 for the season with a 33-7 win over the Lamar Mustangs last night here at the Ranch. The offense was led by the offensive line up front and some good moves by the backs. Brent Ugo found his way into the endzone first for six. Quintin Morris booted the extra point for a 7-0 Longhorn lead. The 2nd quarter saw an Antonio Jackson pass to Morris for another Longhorn TD. Morris again booted the extra point. Dawson Hawkins forced a fumble and Jayson Baldridge recovered to give the ball back to the Longhorns. Another big defensive play came from Alex Fontenot who had an interception that he returned 60 yards for a TD. Morris added the extra point. The last two scores came from Ugo who had a 65-yard run and CJ Rubio who had a 70-yard run. Defensively,  Aaron McGee, Brad Armstrong and Bear Macias kept the Mustang running game in check.  Both sides of the ball did a great job. The Longhorns are open next week and will resume district play the following week in Brazosport.

Freshman Black – The Freshman Black Longhorn football team faced off against the East Bernard Brahmas last night and were handed their first loss of the season. The Longhorns fell 32-6 against a state caliber football program. The Longhorns will have the bye week to rebound from the loss and get ready for the end of the season.
