In day 2 of the LCISD Varsity Softball Tournament, the Longhorns took an early lead against Sealy in the first inning. Sealy wasn’t able to come back from the big hole it dug itself into against the Longhorns, and Sealy lost 5-3 after falling behind by three runs in the fifth inning. Kayte Martinez got a hit in each of her three at bats. The Longhorns never trailed after scoring three runs in the fifth on an RBI double by Brianna Dixson. Alexis Tovar handled Sealy’s lineup with ease, racking up 11 strikeouts. Tovar allowed one earned run on five hits and one walk over six innings. The Longhorns shut the door early on Stratford, capturing an 8-1 victory on Friday in game 2. An RBI double by Brianna Dixson, a sacrifice fly by Emily Rimes, an RBI double by Stephanie Money, and an RBI single by Madison McDonald during the first inning supplied the early offense for George Ranch. Natasha Cabucio looked sharp on the rubber. Cabucio gave up just three hits, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out four during her five innings of work. Dulles didn’t stand a chance on Saturday, day 3 of the tournament. George Ranch captured a blowout 7-0 win in six innings. The Longhorns scored three runs in the fourth on RBI singles by Alyssa Curts, Natasha Cabucio, and Kayte Martinez. The Longhorns tacked on another two runs in the fifth. Madison McDonald kicked things off with a single, plating Stephanie Money. Cabucio kept Dulles off the scoreboard for all six innings she was on the mound. She pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on five hits. In the final game of the tournament, George Ranch falls 4-3 to Texas City. Stephanie Money went 2-2 at the plate for the Longhorns. She doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the fifth inning. Overall the Longhorns ended the tournament 5-1.
