The Freshman Maroon team picked up a win as they took on the West Columbia Roughnecks. The 35-19 victory brings the team to 3-1 as they finish non-district play. The Longhorns got on the board as David Fisher ran the opening kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown. The point after was no good. Alec Harris found the end zone for another 6 points and then again for the 2 point conversion. The Longhorns got on the board again with a Fisher touchdown and then a Ricky Lester pass to Brayden McKnight tacked on 2. The offensive line did a great job moving the defense up and down the field. Colby Bonds pounded his way into the end zone and then put the PAT through the uprights. The Longhorns then moved on down the field with a long Lester pass to Johnny Luvender. A Lester run, finished with a shovel pass to Luvender, sealed the victory for the Longhorns. The defense made a halftime adjustment and kept the Roughnecks off the board in the 2nd half. Nathan Hernandez led the defense with Jaylin Longley recovering a fumble. The Longhorns are open this week and will begin district play against Foster next week.
