The George Ranch Longhorn volleyball teams began their quest of district titles by sweeping the Lady Mustangs from Lamar Consolidated on Friday. The freshmen got the ball rolling by defeating Lamar with scores of 25-14 and 25-20. The JV continued the domination of the Lady Mustangs by winning with scores of 25-13 and 25-9. The Varsity teased the Ponies with a slow start only to slam the door shut with convincing wins of 25-23, 25-13, and 25-8. Kill leaders for the Longhorns were Mattie Ward and Ambrielle Logan with 9 each. Set assist leaders were Tori Luckenbill with 25 and Allison Lanik with 13. Dig leader was Caitlyn Pinkston with 13 digs. Block leaders for the Longhorns were Mattie Ward with 4 followed by Ambrielle Logan with 3. Serve ace leader for the night was Allyson Dernehl with 2 aces. The next hurdle on the road to the district titles takes the Longhorns on the road in Angleton tonight against the Lady Wildcats.
