The Longhorn Wrestling program hosted the 3rd annual Longhorn Invitational on Saturday. In the JV division, the Longhorns ran away with it by scoring 282 points, which was 167 points more than the 2nd place team. The men’s varsity team was the tournament champion as well. By the time the tournament reached the finals, it had become a battle for the championship between GR and 6A Friendswood. The Longhorns were able to score 171 points which put them ahead of Friendswood’s 170.5. Also, Corey Chartier was voted “Most Outstanding Wrestler” in the men’s division by the head coaches. The girls’ varsity finished in 3rd place behind regional opponents Humble and Waller.

Placing for the JV were 4th place: Reese Johnson, Jared Rivas, Nick Jackson and Braden Bean; 3rd place: Trenton Harrell, Zach Edwards and Mario Rios; 2nd place: Christian Davis, Topher Hepp, Colby Bonds and Zyon Savery; Champions were Logan Escobedo, Brian Penaloza, Ricky Boehck, Myles West and Nathan Hernandez.

Placing for the men’s varsity were 4th place: Ryan Tse; 3rd place: Donell Brager; 2nd place: Bailey Reyhons, Hunter Jessup, Brad Cross and Caleb Martinez; tournament champions were Corey Chartier, Nick Ramirez and Garrett Brinneman.

Placing for the women’s varsity were 4th place: Shekina Bonner-Spiller; 3rd place: Jordan Martinez; 2ndplace: Ja’Quyra McDade; and tournament champions were Loren Braun and Diana Luong.
