JV – The JV Maroon baseball team defeated the Angleton Wildcats on Tuesday night by a score of 4-3. Brad Armstrong picked up the win on the mound surrendering one run on 3 hits and striking out 5. Cole McMillian pitched 2 scoreless innings to set up Will Loyd for the save. Joseph Menefee had two hits, a run scored, and an RBI on the evening, while Zach Holtzhuter drove in 2 runs with a double in the top of the 6th. The team starts off district 1-0 and will play Terry at home on Friday night.

Varsity – The Longhorn Varsity baseball team defeated the Angleton Wildcats last night 2-1 in extra innings. Jon Kastens went 7 1/3 innings for the Longhorns allowing only 1 earned run on 5 hits while striking out 9. Carson McManus came in to close out the game and struck out the remaining two batters. Alex Shaver’s 1-out triple in the 8th put the Longhorns in a spot to win it. Shaver was able to cross the plate to win it on a full count, wild pitch to Brady Burns. The win puts the Longhorns at 6-6 on the season and 2-0 in district play as they travel to Terry on Friday.
