On Monday night the varsity softball team took on the Lamar Mustangs for their last district home game of the season. It was a pitcher’s duel from the start with both teams struggling to get runners on base. Natasha Cabucio kept the Mustang hitters guessing all night. She allowed only 4 hits, no walks, had 11 strike-outs, and remained strong through 10 innings of work. The Longhorns threatened in the bottom of the 7th by loading the bases but couldn’t get a run across the plate. In the bottom of the 10th inning, Kayte Martinez led off with a single. After stealing 2nd and 3rd, Kayte was able to score off a line drive to center by Stephanie Money. Longhorns beat the Mustangs 1-0.
