footballThe Freshman Black Longhorn football team defeated the Pearland Dawson Thursday night by a score of 7-6. The Longhorns were led be a stingy defense which caused three turnovers on the night, and a rushing touchdown by Joshua Frank. The Longhorns will play the Mustangs of Friendswood next Thursday at the Ranch.

The Freshman Maroon football team hosted Pearland Dawson last night to kick off the season and came away with a 30-0 victory. The Longhorns got on the board with a hard run by T McGee. The 2 point conversion attempt was not good. The next touchdown came from a crafty run by Jay’Ren Miller with Cristian Jackson adding the 2 points. The defense added 2 points with Peter Mpagi blocking a punt for a safety. Before the half Miller was able to add 6 more giving the Longhorns a 22-0 lead. The defense continued to keep the Eagles off the board with an interception by Dominic Butler. Miller punched in another TD with Jackson adding another 2 point conversion. Another turnover by the defense gave the ball back to the offense who pounded the ball down the field until time expired. The Longhorns take on the Friendswood Mustangs next Thursday here at The Ranch.

Last night the JV Black football team fell to the Dawson Eagles 22-6. The defense held the Eagles to 6 points in the second half with big plays coming from Greyson Watson, Reese Johnson, Shane Jacob and Cade Prejean. Charles Mendez added 6 points to the scoreboard in the third quarter. Next week the Longhorns travel to Friendswood for their second game.

The JV Maroon football teams lost a heartbreaker to Dawson last night 18-14. David Fisher led the way offensively with 2 touchdown runs. Matt Burger led the defensive effort with 2 interceptions.
