The Girls varsity Cross Country team competed yesterday in the Region 3 Cross Country Championships. Toughing out the cold and mud, the Longhorns placed 7th overall out of 24 teams for the team place finish. This is the best placing thus far since the school opened and bettered last year’s season by 6 spots. Lauren Nguyen and Parker McCarley respectively placed 74th and 80th out of 160 competitors. Senior Payton Rouse finished 64th, Freshman Jeyme Alvear-Garcia finished 57th, Sophomore Katia Davis finished 55th and Ruhi Patel finished 34th. Sophomore Theresa McComiskey qualified to the state meet for the first time and finished 6th overall she will be representing the school in Round Rock. Theresa fought until the very end through the mud fest and definitely overcame the obstacles to earn her deserving spot to the state meet. Overall the girls Cross country team had a very successful season and we all thank the staff, faculty and parents for their continuous support. Let’s all keep supporting Theresa in her quest at the state meet November 7th in Round Rock.
