The girls Varsity track team won the LCISD relays this past weekend. The ladies performed very well scoring 145 points to the second place team with 84. There were school and personal records broken and national setting performances that gave the Longhorns an edge over the competition. Jazmyn Tilford-Rutherford broke the school record in triple jump, long jump and the 400 placing 1st , 3rd and 1st in her respective events. Her record setting triple jump has her ranked number two in Texas in all conferences and number 3 in the nation. Sophomore Alexis Woods contributed to breaking the school record in long jump and triple jump and also placed 2nd and 4th in both events. Sam Chartier broke her own school record of 5 feet and leaped to five feet two inches to claim 4th place points for the Longhorns. Kaitlin Vasquez vaulted to a personal best of nine feet and six inches which earned her a 2nd place finish as well. The Longhorns swept all three relays and won each of them as well. In the girls 4 by 100 relay the quartet of Jazmyne Tilford-Rutherford, Lisa Egege, Chidube Ogbonna and Kandice Miles broke the school record and added 20 points to the total score, The girls 4 by 200 relay ran a season best with Chidube Ogbonna, Kandice Miles, Alexis Woods and Franny Okokhere. The girls 4 by 400 relay ran a season best time with Lily and Lisa Egege, Kandice Miles and Jazmyn Tilford-Rutherford. Lisa Egege won the girls 100 meter dash in true fashion with teammate Chidube Ogbonna behind her with a 5th place finish for points. Victoria Tennon and Abisola Anifowoshe both ran a personal best time and placed 5th and 6th in the 400 meters and 100 meter hurdles. Franny Okokhere ran all over the competition placing first overall in the girls 200 meters. The girls Varsity will finish up the week Friday at Klein Relays and over-spring break Pearland Dawson Relays.
