President’s Letter

Welcome back to a new school year, Longhorn Nation!

I hope everyone has enjoyed their summer and is ready to kick off a new year of Longhorn sports!  Our football, volleyball, cross country, tennis and cheer teams are starting to gear up for the fall…  It’s going to be another great year!

As we look forward to what the year will bring, let’s take some time to reflect on our accomplishments last year.  George Ranch had success in all sports programs, many of which, competed at state level competitions.  Take a look at our 2014-2015 Wall of Fame and soak it in.  Our student athletes continue to set the bar high, year over year.

The mission of the George Ranch Athletic Booster Club (ABC) is to support and serve these student athletes, our coaches and our sports programs.  We do this by fundraising, service and scholarships.  In 2014-2015, the ABC:

  • Raised in excess of $40,000 at our annual Boots and Bling fundraising event.
  • Increased family membership by 10% over the prior year.
  • Donated over $20,000 to many George Ranch sports programs.
  • Provided $20,000 in scholarships to deserving senior student athletes.

As we look forward to the new year, we already see a number of opportunities:

  • Student participation in George Ranch High School and Reading Junior High athletic programs continues to increase at a significant rate.
  • Increased collaboration and cooperation with district administrators, local staff and other parent organizations to prepare for the future.

We would like to take these challenges head on, but we need every family at George Ranch to be a part of it.  We need financial and volunteer resources to continue to serve and support our athletes and sports programs. Your membership fees, and more importantly, your willingness to commit time and energy, are critical to meeting the needs of our sports programs this year.

Please consider joining the Athletic Booster Club today.  Click Join Now to find out how to become a member or a corporate sponsor of the GRHS ABC.  If you are interested in volunteering, please click Volunteer.

I would like to thank outgoing President, John Flannery, for his many years of service, along with the other outgoing board members.  I would also like to welcome our new board.  You can find out more about who we are and what we do by clicking About Us.
