JV Baseball Beats Calhoun

baseballThe JV baseball team finished their season with a victory over Calhoun on Friday night by a score of 16-2. The team finishes district play in third place with a 9-4-1 record.

Baseball Beats Terry and Lamar

baseballThe Longhorn Varsity baseball team defeated Terry 2-1 in 8 innings last Friday and Lamar 6-1 this past Tuesday.  The Longhorns are currently in 2nd place with a 9-5 record as they end district play Friday night in Calhoun. Playoff info will be sent out when finalized.

Baseball Beat Terry

baseballThe Longhorns won an exciting game against Terry on Friday night, 2-1 in 10 innings. Ryan Harris went 8 innings on the mound allowing 6 hits while striking out 8. Jake Zatopek came in the last two innings to close it out with 3 k’s. The Longhorns compiled 8 runs total with Kyle Boudreaux having multiple hits. In the 10th inning Ty Abraham lead off with a single and a sac bunt by Josh Lapierre moved him to second. Daniel Boehm had a hit to move Abraham to 3rd and Brock Burns had the walk off hit to score the winning run. The win puts the Longhorns with an 8-5 record in district play as they host the Lamar Mustangs on Tuesday night. It is senior night and we will be honoring our seniors starting at 6:30pm.

Baseball vs Angleton

baseballThe Longhorn Varsity baseball team was defeated by Angleton last night 7-2. The loss leaves the Longhorns with a 7-5 record in district play as they host Terry on Friday night.

Baseball Beat Calhoun

baseballThe Longhorn Varsity baseball team improved to 6-4 in district play by defeating Calhoun 7-6 last night. The team will host the Foster Falcons here at the Ranch on Friday night at 7pm.  The Longhorn sophomore baseball team won Tuesday night by a score of 8-6. The Longhorns will face the foster falcons on Friday night.

Please come out for a Tailgate Potluck for the GRHS vs Foster baseball game Friday at 4:30pm in front of the tennis courts. Bring a dish, chair and beverage. Everyone is invited!

 

Baseball Beat Lamar

baseballThe Longhorn Varsity Baseball Team improved to 5-4 in district play after defeating Lamar 14-0 in 5 innings on Friday. Defense did a great job allowing only 1 hit and no errors. The bats were hot as the team compiled 14 hits on the night. The Longhorns will host Calhoun on Tuesday at 7pm here at the Ranch.

Baseball Beats Terry

baseballThe Longhorn Varsity Baseball team defeated Terry last night by a score of 7-1. Josh Lapierre went 4 1/3 innings with 11 strikeouts and 1 hit. Cody Tiemann came in to get out of a bases loaded jam and Jake Zatopek closed out the last two innings. The Longhorns offense combined for 11 hits on the night including a Brad Armstrong 2 RBI double. Kyle Boudreaux, Joseph Menefee, and Lapierre each had multiple hits. The Longhorns take on the Lamar Mustangs this Friday at 7pm on the road.

Baseball vs. Foster

baseballThe Sophomore baseball team lost a hard fought battle to Foster on Tuesday night by a score of 5-6.  Jacob Cason pitched well for three innings and was relieved by Ethan Oliver on the mound.  The team travels to Angleton Friday night to take on the Wildcats.  The JV Baseball team lost a tough game to the Foster Falcons Tuesday night by a score of 5-2. The Longhorns will face the Wildcats of Angleton here at the Ranch on Friday night at  p.m.  The Longhorn Varsity baseball team lost to Foster last night 1-12.  They are now 3-3 in district play and will host Angleton Friday night here at the Ranch.

Baseball Sweeps Lamar

baseballThe Longhorn Varsity baseball team hosted Lamar Consolidated Tuesday night and came away with a 15-3 win in 5 innings. The win puts the Longhorns at 2-2 in district play, 12-4 overall.

The JV Baseball team defeated Lamar Consolidated Tuesday by a score of 12-1 over six innings. The team played great defense and managed to capitalize as a group on timely hits at the plate. The JV baseball team is 2-1-1 in district.

Baseball vs. Angleton

baseballThe Longhorn Varsity baseball team lost 2 tough district games over the break despite stellar performances on the mound. A 1-2 loss to Angleton and 3-9 loss to Terry puts the team at 1-2 in district play. The Longhorns bounced back for a non-district game against Kinkaid this past Thursday and came away with a decisive 15-6 win. The 11-4 Longhorns will return to district play as they host Lamar Consolidated here at the Ranch on Tuesday at 7pm.
