Boys Basketball Tryouts

Boys basketball tryouts will take place Thursday, November 9, 2017 and Friday, November 10, 2017 at 7:00 a.m. This tryout will be for non-varsity football players, and any other boys on campus who are interested. Varsity football players will tryout at the conclusion of their season. Students must have a physical on file and completed all Rank One paperwork. Please contact Coach Jones or Coach Anderson if you have questions.

Boy’s Varsity Basketball Beat Alief Taylor

basketball_ball_128The Boys Basketball team ended the season in exciting fashion with a buzzer beating 3 by Charles Smith to defeat Alief Taylor 46-44. The team was led in scoring by Quintin Morris and McKinley Harris. What a way to end the year on Parent Night. Coach Jones is so proud of the team they became.

Boy’s Basketball Sweeps Alvin

basketball_ball_128The Boys’ Basketball team traveled to Alvin to take on the Yellow Jackets. The team came back with a 5-0 sweep. The Freshmen A team was led by great play from Francis Jean-Baptiste and Andre Falkway. The Freshmen B team was led by Michael Hayes. The Sophomore team won in overtime with go ahead free throws by Evan Ameen. JV was led by great play from Ja’von Brazille. The Varsity led the whole game and finished with a 75-67 win. 4 players finished in double digits with Grayson Harris leading with 24 points and 7 rebounds. Jeremy Peters added 18.

3rd Annual Moonlight Madness Pep Rally

basketball_ball_128Come join us for the third annual Moonlight Madness Pep Rally to kick off basketball season here at the Ranch on Saturday, October 29th at 7pm. This year we will be joined by 97.9 the Box and the Harlem Dream, who will be playing our very own GRHS All Stars.  If you want to see some High flying Dunks, crazy basketball moves, and tons of free give aways, you don’t want to miss this. Tickets are $10 and are sold at the Student Service Window, or see one of the girls or boys basketball players.  Harlem athletes will be signing autographs after the game.  There are limited amount of tickets being sold, so get your tickets today!

Boy’s Basketball vs. Angleton

BasketballThe Freshmen A Boys team lost a tough game to the Angleton Wildcats. The Freshmen B team finished the season with a win over Angleton. The team was led by Nick Orhii and Angelou Elfe. The team was led by Chuks Uzoka and Dalon Dean. The JV team lost a hard fought game 48-46 to the Angleton Wildcats. The team was led by Isaac Sullivan and Charles Smith. The Varsity Boys Basketball team came up with a big win over the undefeated Angleton Wildcats 55-54. The team was led by great energy from Myles Thompson and Quintin Morris. Chris Oliver ended his last home game with a game winning 3 pointer with 10 seconds left. The team will begin playoffs next Tuesday. Gametime and opponent is TBA.

Boy’s Basketball Sweeps Calhoun

BasketballThe Freshmen A Boys Basketball defeated the Calhoun Sandcrabs Tuesday night. The team was led by Chuks Uzoka and Elmer Borinaga. The JV team defeated the Calhoun Sandcrabs 60-30. The team was led by Darius Russaw and Sunny Ozoh. The Varsity completed the sweep with a 46-38 win. The team was led by great inside play from Chinedu Okoye. The win clinches the 3rd straight playoff birth for the team.

Boy’s Basketball vs. Lamar Consolidated

BasketballThe Longhorn Freshmen A team defeated the Lamar Mustangs 44-41. The team was led by Dalon Dean and Chuks Uzoka. The Freshmen B team lost a hard fought game. The team was led Josiah Kaboga and Hunter Quintana. The JV boys basketball team defeated the Lamar Mustangs on Friday night. The team was led by Isaac Sullivan and Jordan Johnson. The Varsity boys basketball team put together a great a team effort and defeated the Lamar Mustangs 65-42. The team was led by Chris Oliver’s 6-3 pointers and great play off the bench from Justin Joyner and Chukwuma Ogbonna.

BasketballThe Freshmen A Boys Basketball team defeated the Calhoun Sandcrabs 40-24. The team was led by a great play from Jay’ron Miller. The JV Boys Basketball defeated the Calhoun Sandcrabs 50-23. The team was led by Sunny Ozoh, Charles Smith and AJ Richards. The Varsity Boys Basketball team won a tough game against Calhoun 62-55. The team was led by Marvis Odia with 26 points and 6 rebounds. Chris Oliver also added 20 points on 5 3’s. The team is now 3-0 in district.
