Boys Golf Wins LCISD Invitational

golf_ball_128The George Ranch Boys golf team competed in the LCISD Invitational yesterday at Weston Lakes Golf Club. The team of Reed Schnitger, John Hance, Danny Martinez, Jason Montgomery, and Anson Massey fired a team total of 320 to take home 1st place overall.
The team of Brant Thurmond, Aiden Heaps, Henry Harrison, Marcus Martinez, and Nick Oesterreich shot a combined 358 to take home 3rd place honors.
Danny Martinez and John Hance took home 2nd and 3rd place medalists honors with rounds of 74 and 76 respectively. Great job guys!

Boy’s Golf at Tyler Milliken Memorial Golf Tourney

golf_ball_128The George Ranch Boys varsity golf team competed in the Tyler Milliken Memorial Golf Tournament this past weekend at Greatwood Golf Course. The team of Zane Warren, Marcus Lopez, Adam Garza, Thomas Kunzar, and Hunter Shultz shot a two day total of 624 to pace the field and take home top team honors. The team of Matthew Maier, Hunter Breeze, Reed Schnitger, Aiden Heaps, and Henry Harrison took home 2nd place honors with a two day total of 669. The Longhorns also swept the individualist honors as Zane Warren, Marcus Lopez, and Adam Garza took home 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively. Great job guys!

Boy’s Golf Wins Brazoswood Open

golf_ball_128George Ranch Varisty Boys Varsity took home 1st place in the Brazoswood Open. Congratulations to Adam Garza and Zane Warren for finishing 1st and 3rd respectively at the Brazoswood Open! Great job!

Golf – State Results

golfTenzin Palkyi finished her second consecutive trip to the state tournament with rounds of 81-83 for a total of 164, which put her in 19th place overall at the state tournament. Tenzin finishes the year with 5 tournament wins, individual 24-5A district champion, and 19th place at the state tournament. The Longhorn boys golf team capped a remarkable season with a 4th place finish at the 5A state golf tournament. Marcus Lopez 75-76 led the Longhorns placing 10th in the state. Adam Garza 80-75 played his best golf of the year finishing in 19th place. Zane Warren’s exceptional 74 on day one was the team’s low round of the tournament, and Matthew Maier bounced back on day two with a solid round of 79. Chris Lopez contributed a much needed round of 82 on day one for the squad. This team finishes the year as the district 24-5A champion, region 3 5A champion and 4th place in the 5A state tournament. Congratulations on a record-breaking year!

The state tournament is at the Wolfdancer Golf Club near Bastrop on Monday and Tuesday (April 25-26). The team will depart from the Greatwood Golf Club at 8:45am this Sunday. We would like to give them a big SEND OFF, so come out around 8:30am to send off the golf team to the State Tournament!

Golf Heading to State

golfThe Longhorn golf team punched its ticket to the state tournament by claiming the region 3 5A championship. Tied for first after the first round at 306, the Longhorns took the crown by shooting the low round of the tournament-303- in Wednesday’s final round. Zane Warren 76-74, Matthew Maier 78-74, Chris Lopez 74-78, Marcus Lopez 78-77, and Adam Garza 79-81 are the top boys team in the region. The second team placed fifth overall out of the 14 teams at the region tournament. Competing were Drew Hartman 74-78,Thomas Kuznar 77-76, John Hance 76-81, Brian Noh 87-87, and Hunter Breeze 83-94. Junior Tenzin Palkyi qualified for the state tournament for the second consecutive year with her rounds of 78-72. The girls team consisted of Palkyi, Ashton Maughan, Kate Weaver, Katie Koerth, and Arianna Selph. Best of luck at state boys and Tenzin!

Golf at District Tournament

golfThe Longhorn golf teams dominated at the district golf tournament Monday and Tuesday claiming 15 of the 22 spots up for grabs for next week’s region tournament. Tenzin Palkyi claimed her second consecutive district title with rounds of 76-76. Ashton Maughan, Rae Gresso, Katie Koerth, Arianna Selph, and Kate Weaver rounded out the team that placed second and advanced to regionals. Zane Warren collected his second district title in a row with rounds of 70-68 making him 4 under par for the tournament. Marcus Lopez and Matthew Maier finished second and third respectively. The varsity A team ran away with the district title for the fourth year in a row shattering team score records with rounds of 291-287 which is 10 over par as a team. Chris Lopez, Adam Garza, Warren, Lopez, and Maier received the team golf medals. The varsity B team shot rounds of 315-313 to claim second and advance to regionals. Drew Hartman, Hunter Breeze, Jack Weaver, John Hance, and Thomas Kuznar will be making the B team’s third consecutive trip to regionals. Good luck next week!

Golf at District Preview

golfThe Longhorn golf teams dominated the district preview held Monday at Fort Bend Country Club. Tenzin Palkyi won the individual title on the girls side by winning a sudden death playoff on the second playoff hole. Ashton Maughan finished 5th place overall and Katie Koerth tied for 10th. Arianna Selph finished 15th and Kate Weaver ended in 17th place. Chris Lopez won the individual boys title with an even par 71. Adam Garza-73 finished 3rd place, Marcus Lopez-76 4th place, Matthew Maier-76 5th place, Thomas Kuznar-76 6th place, John Hance-8th place 78, Jack Weaver-10th place 79. Altogether, Longhorns captured 16 of the top 20 spots in the tournament.

Boy’s Golf at River Ridge Gulf Club

golfThe boys golf team finished first place in the Region 3 preview golf tournament for the second consecutive year. The team shot a 312 on day one and 317 on day two to claim the title at River Ridge Golf Club. Matthew Maier 74-79, Marcus Lopez 83-75, Zane Warren 78-82, Chris Lopez 77-85, and Adam Garza 88-81 brought home the gold medals. Tenzin Palkyi finished second place individually at the region preview. Her rounds of 77-77 put her one shot out of first place.
