Girl’s Soccer Sweeps Terry

soccerThe Longhorns traveled to take on the Lady Rangers of Terry Friday night. They finished the first round undefeated with the JV winning 6-1. Rae Mai, Emma Carlson, Ashley Vega, Laura Olabisi, Brittany Adase and Laura Cardenas all scored one goal for the Longhorns. Setting up assist were Brittany Adase, Johanna Rios and Noely Hernandez. Excellent play came from Heidi Jacko and Grace Ramairez. The Varsity girls followed suit by defeating the Rangers 7-1. Jenna Sanders led the scoring front with two goals, with Gabby Galvan, Riley Murray, Jordan Shimaitis, Maddi Nicholson, and Tayler Jasek all adding one goal. Shreya Desai set up 3 of the goals, Jordan Shimaitis setting up 2 and Shana Hardin adding one assist. The girls head into the second round Tuesday to take on the Lamar Lady Mustangs.

Girl’s Soccer Sweeps Angleton

soccerThe Longhorns continued their drive toward a district championship by sweeping the lady Wildcats. The Girls JV mounded to 3 and 0 in district winning 4-1. The goals were scored by Laura Cardenas and Emma Carlson with 2 each. Assisting their goals were Noely Hernandez, Emma Carlson, Grace Ramirez and Lara Olabisi. The defense was led by Ashley Vega and Carson Yanta. The varsity girls followed suit by defeating the Wildcats 4-0. Shreya Desai, Jordan Shimaitis, Celeste Ruiz , and Taylor Rech all scored with Shana Hardin and Michelle Mills each assisting 1 goal each. Strong defensive play came from Kasey Davis and Marissa Vrba. The girls travel to Terry on Friday to finish the first round.

Girl’s Soccer vs. Calhoun

soccerThe girls soccer team embarked on the 2 hour drive to take Port Lavaca Calhoun. The Longhorns made good use of their long ride to rest up and deliver a 9-0 win over the Sandcrabs. Riley Murray and Jordan Shimaitis both scored two goals each with Shreya Desai, Taylor Rech, Austin Martz, Kasey Davis and Michelle Mills all adding one goal. The Longhorns will be back in action  tonight when they travel to Foster. Come out and support your girls!

Girl’s Soccer Sweeps Lamar Consolidated

soccerFriday night the girls soccer teams started the district season by hosting the Lady Mustangs from Lamar. The JV got things started with a 2-1 victory. The goals were scored by Emma Carlson and Grace Ramirez. Also contributing with the strong effort were Carson Yanta, Noely Hernandez, and Heidi Jacko. The Varsity continued the winning ways defeating the Lady Mustangs 6-0. Celeste Ruiz led the scoring with 2 goals, with Taylor Rech, Jordan Shimaitis, Mehgan Burger, and Sydney Heikkila all adding one goal. Shreya Desai set a new school record for by tallying 6 assist. Solid play came from Colleen Janecek, Kasey Davis and Madeline Bares. The girls head to Calhoun on Tuesday to continue their quest for a third district title.

Girl’s Soccer vs. College Park

soccerThe Girls Soccer Team took on the Lady Mustangs of College Park on Friday night. The JV girls finished with a 1-1 tie after Rae Mai finished a Emma Carlson cross. KK Hydo played big in the goal stopping a PK. Jessica Torres and Ashley Vega played solid defense as well. The varsity girls dropped a 1-0 game to the Lady Mustangs, despite many close shots that hit of the post. Great hustle play Clare Valdez, Riley Murray, and Sydney Heikkila. The Girls open up district play on Friday when they host the Lamar Lady Mustangs.

Girl’s Soccer vs Cy-Ranch

soccerThe girls soccer team traveled to Cy Ranch to take on the Lady Mustangs on a cold and rainy night. The girls came up on the short end dropping the game 1-0 off of a PK. The girls will play at home on Friday against College Park.

Girl’s Soccer in I-10 Shootout – Part 2

soccerThe Girls Varsity team continued play in the I-10 tournament on Friday. Despite losing 2-0 to the Katy Taylor Lady Mustangs, the Longhorns battled back on Saturday in the cold and rain to win 1-0 over Clear Falls off of a Jordan Shimaitis goal. Outstanding play came from Sydney Heikkila, Ariana Salazar, and Tayler Jaseck. The JV girls also participated in the Alief ISD tournament this past weekend despite losing a heartbreaking 5-3 shootout loss on Thursday the girls battle back winning 1-0 Friday over the Hastings Lady Bears with a goal by Dany Torres. The girls then played Saturday morning for the consolation final winning 3-0 over the Taylor Lady Lions with goals from Emma Carlson, Rae Mai, and Noely Hernandez. The girls will play at home on Friday versus La Porte. Come out and support your Longhorns!!

Girl’s Soccer in I-10 Shootout

soccerThe girls’ soccer team also traveled to Katy Taylor last night to play their opening game in the I -10 Shootout against the Vidor Lady Pirates. The girls walked away with a 2-0 victory on a foggy night. Goals came from Taylor Rech and Jordan Shimaitis. Outstanding defensive play from Meghan Burger, Madeline Bares, Shana Hardin and Clare Valdez. The girls will take on Katy Taylor today at 2pm! Go Longhorns!!

Girl’s Soccer vs Wharton

soccerGirls Varsity soccer team traveled to Wharton to take on the Lady Tigers. The girls went on a scoring frenzy winning 10-0. Goals were scored by Riley Murray, Jordan Shimitias, Shreya Desai, Tayler Jasek, Shana Hardin, Ariana Salazar, Kasey Davis, Clare Valdez, Michelle Mills, and Colleen Janecek.

Girl’s Soccer: Blue Bell Invitational

soccerThe Girls soccer team traveled to Brenham to play in Blue Bell Invitational on Friday. In their first game of the day the Longhorns took on Georgetown Eastview and defeated them 2-0, with goals coming from Shreya Deasi and Jordan Shimaitis. In their second game of the day, they took on Round Rock Stoney Point and came away with a 4-0 victory. Shreya Deasi scored 2 goals, with Taylor Rech and Sofia Arreola both adding one goal each. Unfortunately the tournament was cancelled for Saturday, but the girls will be back in action on Tuesday when varsity travels to Wharton and JV heads to Waller.
