Varsity Softball at Haynie Spirit Tournament

softballThe George Ranch Longhorn softball team started off the Haynie Spirit Tournament with wins over Pasadena Dobie and Cy-Fair. In game 1, London Diller gave up 2 earned runs in an 8-5 win. Leading the way at the plate were Taylor Pesina, who went 2 for 3 with a triple and London Diller who was also 2 for 3 with a double. In game 2, Nevada Dolnik pitched a complete game giving up only 2 runs and 5 hits. Leading hitters were Remme Loos who went 2 for 3 with an RBI and London Diller who hit a homerun and had 1 RBI.

On Day 2 of the tournament, the Longhorns faced Foster and Manvel. In game one, The Longhorns fell to Foster by a score of 6-3. Leading hitters were Kayte Martinez (2 for 3) and London Diller (2-3, Double).In game 2, the Longhorns defeated Manvel by a score of 10-8. The winning pitcher was Lexi Tovar. Leading hitters were Kayte Martinez (2 for 3) and Lexi Tovar (1 for 3, triple).On day 3 the Longhorns faced tough competition against Alvin and Deer Park. In game 1, the George ranch fell 5-0. Reese Scott led the hitters going 1 for 3 with a triple. In game 2 the Longhorns came up short to Deer Park by a score of 8-6. Several hitters went 2 for 3 including Mandy McDowell, Taylor Pesina, and Destiny Walker. Lexi Tovar was 1 for 2 with a triple.

Softball Beat Alief Hastings

softballThe JV Longhorn softball team started district play on Tuesday night with a win over Alief Hastings 16-0 in 3 innings. Pitching a perfect game was Allyssa Osadchuck, who had 7 strikeouts in the win. Hitting was led by Osadchuck, who had a 3 run homerun in the 1st. The Longhorns travel to Pearland Dawson on Tuesday.
The Longhorn softball team started district play on Tuesday night with a win over Alief Hastings 17-0 in 3 innings. Pitching a perfect game was Alexis Tovar, who had 8 strikeouts in the win. All of the Longhorn hitters reached base on the night. The Longhorns travel to Pearland for a tournament this weekend.

Softball – 2nd Round Schedule

softballGeorge Ranch softball plays Barbers Hill in a 3 games series beginning on Friday.  The game will be played at Pearland at 6:30 PM. On  Saturday play will continue at Dawson. Game time is 11AM.  The 3rd game will be played 30 minutes after the second if needed.

Softball Sweeps Galveston Ball

softballThe Longhorn softball team won the Bi-District Round of playoffs on Friday by defeating the Galveston Ball Lady Tors 3-0. London Diller pitched a great game for the Longhorns. She allowed only one hit from the Tors with a no-hitter going into the 7th inning. The Longhorns will face Barbers Hill in the Area round of playoffs this week, game details coming soon.

Softball Beats Galveston Ball in Game 1

softballThe Longhorn softball team took game 1 of the bi-district series against Galveston Ball 6-3. The Longhorns had 11 hits for the night. Leaders for the Longhorns were Lily Pearson and Taylor Pesina both with 2 hits and an RBI each. The Longhorns look to wrap up the series against Galveston tonight at 6 at the Ranch.

Softball vs Lamar

softballThe Varsity softball team finished off their district play and fell to the Lamar Lady Mustangs 4-3 on Monday night. Taylor Pesina went 2 for 3 at the plate hitting a double and a triple. The loss leaves the Longhorns with a 7-3 record in district play which puts them in a second place finish. The Longhorns will take on the Galveston Ball in the Bi-district round of playoffs this week. Game 1 will be Thursday at Galveston Ball, Game 2 will be Friday at George Ranch, and game 3 TBD if necessary.

Softball Beats Calhoun

softballThe Varsity softball team played their last district home game Friday night against the Calhoun Sandies. The Longhorns honored Senior Sydney Scott in pregame ceremonies. Alexis Tovar did a great job on the mound keeping the Sandies scoreless through 7 innings. A 3 run 5th inning secured the win for the Longhorns. Kim Williams started the rally with a double to center field. Lily Pearson hit a sac fly that scored the runner. After a walk by Shelby Kvinta, Destiny Walker followed with a hard hit ball to left field that scored another run. Kayte Martinez got on base with a bunt and then followed with a delay steal that allowed the runner on third to score.

Softball vs. Angleton

softballThe JV softball team dropped a heart-breaker to Angleton Tuesday night. After leading most of the game errors cost the Longhorns and ended up losing 4-3. Nevada Dolnik had a strong performance on the mound with 9 strikeouts and only giving up 1 hit. Emma Glose had 2 hits and 2 RBI’s for the Longhorns. The Varsity softball team lost to Angleton 9-6 on Tuesday night. A rough start for the Longhorn defense allowed the Wildcats to jump out to an early lead. The Longhorns put together scoring efforts in the 6th and 7th innings. Kayte Martinez and Taylor Pesina led the scoring attack. Kayte had 3 hits and 1 RBI while Taylor hit a triple, a homerun, and had 4 RBI’s. The Longhorns will travel to Terry on Friday.

JV Softball Beat Foster

softballThe JV softball team beat Foster 10-2 on Friday behind a no-hitter pitched by Neveda Dolnik. Hitting was led by Lauren Burkett and Alyssa Osadchuk both with multiple hits and RBI’s. The team plays Angleton at the Ranch on Tuesday starting at 5

Softball Sweeps Calhoun

softballThe Longhorns swept the Calhoun Lady Sandcrabs in Tuesday night’s softball action. The JV softball team won 17-4 and the Varsity team won 3-1. Offensive leaders for the JV team were Remme Loos, Kylie Kramr, and Lauren Burkett who all reached based multiple times during the game. For the Varsity team offensive hi-lights were: Kayte Martinez scored in the first inning, Jewelisa Zamora had a sac fly to right field in the sixth to score a run, and Kim Williams hit a homerun in the 7th inning. The team will start the second round of district on Friday at Foster.
