Aquatics at State Championship

swimming_goggles_128GRHS swam at the 6A STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS OVER THE WEEKEND.

  • Ryan Grote, Aaron O’Reilly, Jacob Gamble, and Camp Priest got 23rd in the 400 freestyle relay.
  • Gracie Liang got 18th in 1 meter diving.
  • Peyton Quattlebaum got 9th in the 200 freestyle breaking her own school record. Later on in the meet, Peyton got our 1st girls state medal in the 500 freestyle by taking 3rd and getting bronze.
  • Riley Murray got 11th in the 50 freestyle.
  • Riley and Peyton were joined by Charlotte Johansen and Kate Hartman to take 15th over all int he 400 freestyle relay.

The girls finished 20th overall in total point standings. Congrats to all swimmers and divers

Aquatics at Regional Meet

swimming_goggles_128GRHS competed in the swim and dive regional meet last weekend, and several athletes are headed to state.

  • Gracie Liang – Diving
  • Riley Murray – 50 Freestyle
  • Peyton Quattlebaum – 200 and 500 Freestyle
  • Riley Murray, Peyton Quattlebaum, Kate Hartman and Charlotte Johansen in the 400 Freestyle Relay
  • Ryan Grote, Aaron O’Reilly, Jacob Gamble, and Camp Priest in the 400 Freestyle Relay

All of those were school records, as well. We also broke several other records including:

  • Kate Hartman in the 100 Butterfly
  • Camp Priest broke the 50 and 100 Freestyle
  • Peyton Quattlebaum in the 100 Freestyle
  • Mark Kvinta, Aaron O’Reilly, Jacob Gamble, and Camp Priest in the 200 Freestyle Relay
  • Leann Anderson, Peyton Quattlebaum, Kate Hartman, and Riley Murray in the 200 Medley Relay

Girl’s Swim Team Wins District

GRHS Girls Swim Team won the District 23-6A Title last friday! Peyton Quattlebaum won the 200 and 500 Freestyles; Riley Murray won the 50 Free; Leann Anderson, Kate Hartman, Mari Liang, and Charlotte Johansen won the 200 Free Relay. Boys were runner up to a very strong Dawson team.
Jake Gamble won the 50 Free; Camp Priest won the 100 Free; Jake Gamble, Camp Priest, Mark Kvinta, and Aaron O’Reilly won the 200 Free Relay; Jake Gamble, Camp Priest, Aaron O’Reilly, and Ryan Grote won the 400 Free Relay. Regions are this Friday and Saturday where many of our swimmers and relays will be fighting for a trip to the state meet.

Aquatics Beats Foster and FB Austin

swimming_goggles_128GHRS swim and dive beat foster and Austin high school last night. Boys win 2/3 relays and individual event wins by Luis Muller in the 100 breastroke and Jake Alderman in Diving. Girls win all 3 relays and break a school and FORT BEND POOL record in the 200 freestlye relay. Kate Hartman, Peyton Quattlebaum, Charlotte Johansen, and Riley Murray. Peyton Quattlebaum also won the 200 freestyle and 500 feestyle with a new school record. Riley Murray won the 50 free and the 100 free with a new school record! Mari Liang, Gracie Liang, and Gemini Chancoco, and Kate Hartman also won events!! The 200 Freestyle time of 1:39.72 is the fastest time in the state this year 5A or 6A!

Aquatics at Spartan Invite

swimming_goggles_128GRHS competed in the Spartan invite with several schools including seven lakes, Cinco Ranch, and Cy Creek. Girls were 4th overall and boys were 6th Kate Hartman, Riley Murray, Gracie Liang, and Charlotte Johansen got second in the medley relay. Camp Priest won the 50 freestyle Gracie Liang won the 50 butterfly Camp Priest 2nd I 100 breaststroke Riley Murray 2nd in the 100 freestyle Marisa Liang 2nd in 50 Breastroke GRHS will compete in the Exhibition LCISD quad meet on Tuesday.

01182014_CentreSwim_Wittenberg_45691GRHS boys and girls swim and dive team completed in the 5A state championships this weekend, Mark Kvinta, David Kvinta, Kyle Krush, and Camp Priest got 16th in the 200 medley relay; David Kvinta got 10th in the 200 IM with a school record time of 1:59.02; Charlotte Johansen got 14th in the 50 freestyle; Rachel Reed got 10th in 1M diving; Camp Priest got 12th with a new school record of 48.08; Kate Hartman, Charlotte Johansen, Elisabeth Markee, and Leann Anderson got 11th in the 200 freestyle relay; Jacob Gamble, Camp Priest, Aaron O’Rielly, and David Kvinta got 5th in the 200 freestyle. It was an incredible year. Good job Longhorns!

Aquatics Regional Meet

01182014_CentreSwim_Wittenberg_45691Longhorn Divers competed at Regionals last Friday. Senior Rachel Reed took second place and qualified for the state competition in Austin in girl’s 1 meter diving. Teammates Graciela Liang took third place and junior Stella Cunningham took 8th place, Freshman Dominic Daugherty finished out his season proudly representing the Longhorn boy swimming and diving team.

Swimming and Diving competed in the region 7 swim meet this weekend. The boys were regional runner ups and girls took 3rd place overall. We set 5 school records and will be taking 3 relays and 3 individual swims and 1 diver to the state championship meet in Austin Feb. 17-20th. Leann Anderson, Gemini Chancoco, Jacob Gamble, Jack Greene, Ryan Grote, Kate Hartman, Charlotte Johansen, Sarah Kinzner, Kyle Krush, David Kvinta, Mark Kvinta, Jacob Liang, Elizabeth Markee, Luis Mueller, Aaron Oreilly, Camp Priest, Gabriela Salazar, and Kathryn Voelkel All contributed to our team scores. David Kvinta defended his 200 IM title and rebroke his own school record. Charlotte Johansen broke the 50 free and 100 free school records. Camp Priest broke the 100 free record. Kate Hartman broke the 100 butterfly record. A complete list of state qualifiers will be announced later this week.

Aquatics 2016 District Meet

01182014_CentreSwim_Wittenberg_45691On Saturday the GRHS boys and girls swim teams took 2nd at the district swim and dive meet. Individual winners were David Kvinta in the 200 I IM and Kate Hartman in the 100 backstroke. Leann Anderson, Lindsey Bone, Allyson Bradley, Gemini Chancoco, Stella Cunningham, Dominic Daughtry, Jacob Gamble, Jack Greene, Ryan Grote, Charlotte Johansen, Sarah Kinzner, Kyle Krush, Micheal Kurmadas, Mark Kvinta, Graciela LIang, Jacob Liang, Elizabeth Markee, Kellee Meyers, Luis Mueller, Aaron Oreilly, Camp Priest, Rachel Reed, Gabriela Salazar, and Kathryn Voelkel all contributed by placing top 8 and scoring for GRHS. 6 relays and 32 swims have advanced to the regional meet this weekend.

Aquatics Sweep LCISD Schools

01182014_CentreSwim_Wittenberg_45691GRHS Swim and dive finished their duel meet with a sweep of the LCISD SCHOOLS. Kate Hartman, Geminini Chancoco, Charlotte Johansen, Elizabeth Markee, Lauren Hardee, Hannah Moore Katie Voelkel and Gabriela Salazar all contributed to the Girls winning all 3 relays! Mark Kvinta, Aaron O’rielly, Kyle Krush, David Kvinta, Jacob Liang, Camp Priest, and Jacob Gamble contributed in winning 2 of the 3 boys relays. Kate Hartman, Geminini Chancoco, Charlotte Johansen, Gabriela Salaza, David Kvinta, Jacob Liang, Camp Priest, Jacob Gamble, Rachel Reed, and Dominic Daughtry, all won individual events. The district meet is January 28th and 30th where GRHS will go up against the LCISD schools and the Spring Branch ISD schools. In several events, last year’s district meet was the fastest 5A district meet in the state of Texas and is shaping up to be another very fast meet.
