This past weekend the Varsity Tennis Team competed in a talent filled Klein ISD Classic. The Longhorns each played 5 matches over two days. Highlights from the tournament are; Rachel Dzuik and Alessandra Jara took 5th place, Aisha Sheikh and Joey Ballone took 9th place, and Joshua Joe brought home the Longhorns only medal for winning the boys consolation draw. The Longhorns will be back in action this week at the Spring Branch Tournament.

Highlights are as follows; Cassie Chen was edged out in the semifinals after winning 3 rounds of matches. An Nguyen and Chloe Redies also fell in the semifinals as well. Rachel Dziuk & Alessandra Jara were defeated in a heart breaking 3 set match my Memorial high school in the quarter finals. Losing in the consolations finals were; Noah Joe and Bryce McKinnon, Hannah Rosenbaum, Jonathon Tan, and Aisha Sheikh and Joey Ballone.
The varsity tennis team traveled to Angleton this past Friday for their annual tennis tournament. The Longhorns placed and/or earned medals in 7 of the 10 draws. The varsity team will be back in action on Friday in the FBISD tournament. Highlight from the Angleton tournament are; Jonathon Tan took 3rd in the boys B singles draw. Hannah Rosenbaum took 3rd in the girls A singles draw. Cassie Chen took 3rd in the girls B singles draw. Rachel Dziuk and Alessandra Jara won 1st place in the girls A doubles draw. Joey Ballone and An Nguyen won the consolation draw in boys A doubles. Jake Berry and Ryan Cao won 1st place in the boy B doubles draw. Noah Joe and Bryce McKinnon took 3rd in the boy B doubles draw. Trevor Sellers and Julia White took 2nd in the B mixed draw.
The JV tennis team competed in the Fort Bend ISD JV/ Freshman tournament and played against some of the toughest schools in the area. Congratulations to Rachel Holly and Ethan Chau for bringing home a silver medal for mixed doubles.
The Varsity tennis team traveled to Wharton this past Friday. The team earned medals in 6 of 10 draws. Congratulations to the following athletes: Jonathon Tan took 3rd in B Boys Singles, Hannah Rosenbaum took 2nd in A Girls Singles, Cassie Chen won consolation for B Girls Singles, Jules Bourgeois and Aisha Sheikh took 2nd in B Girls Doubles, Noah Joe and Bryce McKinnon won 1st in B Boys Doubles, and Jake Berry and Julia White took 3rd in A Mixed Doubles. The JV tennis team will travel to the FBISD tournament this Wednesday and Varsity will be back in action on Friday in Angleton.
JV Tennis traveled to Katy to play in their annual tennis tournament. The Longhorns played against some of the best teams in the area and managed to bring home medals. Nick Heard and Kate Poche won the consolation medal for mix doubles; Olivia Ledgerwood placed 3rd in girls singles; Brisa Gonzales and Lauren Caples placed 3rd in girls doubles; and Nick Chin took home the consolation for boys singles.
On Friday the GRHS Varsity tennis team opened season at the Katy ISD tournament. This tournament was full of state ranked teams. Although the Longhorns did not medal, they advance dead in many of the draws. Rachel Dziuk and Alessandra Jara lost in the A girls doubles quarter finals. Cassie Chen (in girls B singles), Will Blanco (in boys B singles) and Joey Ballone and An Nguyen (in boys A doubles) all lost in the consolation finals. The Longhorns will be in action again this Friday at the Wharton ISD tournament.
JV Tennis played in Cy-Fair ISD tournament and came home victorious even though the rain ended play early. Olivia Ledgerwood would have placed 1st or 2nd in girls singles; Kate Poche and Ryan Grace would have placed 1st or 2nd in mix doubles; Nick Luu and Nick Chin earned a 3rd place medal in boys doubles; Brisa Gonzales and Lauren Caples won a gold medal in girls doubles; and Nick Herd and Ethan Chau won consolation in boys doubles. Even with the rain – we still won at the Ranch!
The Longhorns hosted their annual LCISD JV Tennis Tournament yesterday and played against 16 other high schools in the surrounding area. We came away with a few medals including Nick Chin and Nick Luu both playing in boys singles; Grace Nguyen and Sean Neal in mix doubles; and Ethan Chau and Nick Heard playing in boys doubles. Congratulations on the wins. This was a great start to the Spring Tennis season.
Congratulations to the Varsity Longhorn Team who finished 2nd in Area which qualified them for Regionals. The Longhorns fell short to Stratford High School but did come away with a couple of wins. Joey Ballone won his boys singles match and Aisha Sheikh and Noah Joe won in mixed doubles. Thank you for a great season!
