Attention all young ladies not enrolled in athletics for the 2017-2018 school year. The girls varsity track team finished 7th our of 15 teams at the Area 23-24 6A championships. In field events. Junior Alexis Woods jumped to two season bests in girls long jump and triple jump. Alexis placed 3rd in triple jump with a jump of 37′ 6 and 4th in long jump with 17′ 9. This qualified her to this weeks Region 3-6A Championships at Challenger Stadium. Also qualifying to the regional meet was sophomore Nyla Barlow placing 2nd in the 400 meters and running a personal best of 57.10. The girls 4×200 meter relay placed 3rd overall and ran their 2nd best time of the season with Junior Jazmine George, Freshman Alexandria Franklin, Freshman Mikayala Wright and Freshman Camille Rutherford. This put them in to the regional meet as well. Senior Abisola Anifowoshe placed 4th overall earning a spot in the Region meet as well. Notable point earners for the longhorns go to Theresa McComiskey placing 5th in the girls 3200 meter and 6th in the 1600 meter run. Katia Davis placed 6th overall in the 3200 meter run. The girls 4×100 meter relay placed 5th running their season best with Mikayla Wright, Jazmine George, Nyla Barlow and Camille Rutherford. The girls 4×400 meter relay placed 7th overall running a season best time with Savannah Creech, Victoria Tennon, Alexandria Franklin and Munachi Anusiem.

The girls Varsity track team placed 3rd overall at the 2017 23-6A District Championships. The Longhorns performed well with their first year in 6A and solidified many qualifying spots to the Area meet this Friday. In field events, Alexis Woods became the only and first 23-6A District champion in girls triple jump. She also placed 3rd in long jump which allowed her to move on to the next round. In the girls distance events, Junior Theresa McComiskey placed 2nd in the 1600 meter run and 3rd in the 3200 meter run moving her on to the next round. Teammate Katia Davis placed 4th in the girls 3200 meter run which sealed her a spot in Area as well. In the hurdles, Senior Abisola Anifowoshe placed 2nd to add to point totals and qualified her in the area meet. Sophomore Nyla Barlow doubled up placing 2nd in both the 400 meter run and the 200 meter running personal records in both qualifying to the area meet. Running next to her was teammate Camille Rutherford who placed 3rd in the 200 meters qualifying to area. Junior Jasmine George ran swiftly in the girls 100 meter run and placed 4th edging out competition to run in the next round. All three relays made it in to area and are ready to take on the next level. The girls 4×100 relay ran a season best and placed 2nd with Jasmine George, Nyla Barlow, Mikayla Wright and Camille Rutherford. In the girls 4×200 meter relay, the girls placed 2nd with Faith White, Alexis Woods, Mikayla Wright and Camille Rutherford. The girls 4×400 relay placed 4th and ran a season best with Munachi Anusiem, Alexandria Franklin, Savannah Creech and Victoria Tennon. Contributing to point totals were Mikayla Wright 6th in the 100, Munachi Anusiem 6th in the 300 meter hurdles, Katia Davis 5th and Brooke Johnson 6th in the girls 1600 meter run.

The girls Junior varsity placed 1st for the 5th week in a row at Fulshear Charger Relays. Top 3 finishers in each event were: Ann Rabich placing 1st in high jump and 3rd in the 100 hurdles. Robyn Chukwu placed 3rd in triple jump. In the 3200 meter run Alyssa Heikkila placed 1st and Also placed first in the 1600 meter run. Ramsa Kazi placed 3rd in the 3200 meter. Rylee Salazar placed 2nd in the 1600 meter run and won the 800 meter run. Ava Breeze placed 2nd in the 800 meter run and 2nd in the 300 meter hurdles. Kayla Randon won both the 100 meter hurdles and 300 meter hurdles. Caitlin Hargrove placed 3rd in the 100, while Savannah Creech won the 200 meter and Annalisse Thompson placed 3rd. The longhorns swept all three relays and placed first. The girls 4×100 was Kayla Stepney, Kayla Randon, Annalisse Thompson, and Savannah Creech. The girls 4×200 relay was Caitlyn Hargrove, Sharrell Aodems, Kaitlyn Kador and Kayla Stephney. The girls 4×400 relay had Grace Wahome, Savannah Creech, Skylar Wiltz and Amor Sheffield.

Congratulations to the girls varsity as they won their 4th consecutive team championship at the 2017 LCISD Relays. The girls competed against some great competition and battled the winds to come out on top. In field events, Nyla Barlow set a personal record and won the girls long jump. Teammate Alexis Woods placed 4th with a season best jump. In triple jump, Alexis Woods also placed 3rd in that event. In girls pole vault, Junior Kaitlin Vasquez placed 2nd overall. In high jump, Victoria Tennon placed 2nd overall tying her season best jump. In running events, Theresa McComiskey showed out in front of the home crowd winning in true fashion the girls 1600 meter and 3200 meter run. Teammate Brooke Johnson finished 6th in the 3200. In the girls 100 meters, Mikayla Wright finished 6th running a personal best time. In the 200 meters, Camille Rutherford placed 2nd overall with a season best time. In the 100 meter hurdles, Abisola Anifowoshe finished 2nd and Brianna Franklin ran a personal best time placing 6th. In the 300 meter hurdles, freshman Munachi Anusieum finished 3rd and Jazmine George finished 4th. In the girls 400 meter run, Nyla Barlow finished 3rd and Victoria Tennon finished 5th. The quartet of Nyla Barlow, Alexis Woods, Jazmine George and Mikayla Wright won the 4 by 100 meter relay running their best time of the season. The girls 4 by 200 meter relay finished 2nd. The girls compete at Katy Champion Relays today at Katy High School starting at 3:15 pm.

Congratulations to the Girls Junior Varsity as they continued their team champion winning streak at Terry Ranger Relays last week. Top 3 finishers in the 3200 were Alyssa Heikkila placing 1st, Ramsa Kazi 2nd and Cami Lidisky 3rd. In the girls 4 by 100 relay, the girls placed 2nd with Savannah Creech, Caitlyne Hargrove, Harmony Harris and Annalisse Thompson. In the girls 800 meters, Ava Breeze placed 2nd overall and Rylee Salazar placed 3rd. In the girls 100 meter hurdles, Kayla Randon won the event. In the girls 100 meters, Caitlyne Hargrove placed 2nd and Sharrell Odems placed 3rd. The girls 4 by 200 meters won the event with Kaitlyne Kador, Savannah Creech, Annalisse Thompson and Harmony Harris. In the girls 400 meters, Stephanie Chukwu placed 2nd. In the girls 300 meters, Ava Breeze finished first and close behind he was teammate Kayla Randon with a 2nd place finish. In the girls 200 meters, Annalisse Thompson finished 3rd overall. In the girls 1600 meters, Alyssa Heikkila finished 1st and Rylee Salazar finished 2nd in that event. The girls 4 by 400 meter relay placed 1st with Amor Sheffield, Stephanie Chukwu, Savannah Creech and Grace Wahome. In field events, Stephanie Chukwu won and Robyn Chukwu placed 2nd. In girls long jump Sharrell Odems placed 1st overall. The girls compete today at Falcon Relays at Foster High School at 4:30pm.

The varsity girls competed at the John Morris Relays last Friday. In the girls 100 meters Abisola Anifowoshe ran a season best of 15.97 and placed 3rd overall. Junior Theresa McComiskey placed 3rd overall running a season best in the girls 3200 meter run. Theresa also contributed to the Distance Medley Relay’s 5th place with teammates Brooke Johnson, Katia Davis and Victoria Tennon. The time ran was the best ever ran in school history. Notable point earners for the team were the girls 4 by 100 meter relay with Nyla Barlow, Jazmine George, Alexis Woods and Mikayla Wright with an 8th place finish. Brooke Johnson and Sydney Delgado placed 5th and 7th earning points as well. In the 300 meter hurdles and 100 meter hurdles, Jasmine George and Brianna Franklin both placed 7th earning points in their respective events. The girls varsity will compete this Thursday at the Cypress Fall Invite.

The girls Junior Varsity Track team set the tone to reclaim their throne with their first track meet of the season. The Longhorns Scored 259.5 to Foster’s 91 2nd place points and Lamar’s 77 points for 3rd. That made a 168.5 Margin between first and 2nd place. Recognizing the to 3 placers in field events were:
Sharrell Odems 3rd in long jump; Stephanie Chukwu 1st and Robyn Chukwu 2nd in girls triple jump. Ann Rabich won the girl’s High Jump setting a Personal record of 4’8″. In girls Discus Amaka Ngwaba placed 2nd overall. Starting off with the girls 3200 meters Alyssa Heikkila and Ramsa Kazi placed 1st and 3rd. in the girls 800 meters Jada Dillard placed 1st overall and Ava Breeze came in 3rd overall. In the girls 4 by 100 meter relay the Longhorns placed 2nd with Kaitlyne Kador, Harmony Harris, Savannah Creech and Annalisse Thompson. In the girls 100 meter dash Sharell Odems placed 2nd and Caitlyne Hargrove placed 1st overall in this event. In the girls 4 by 20 meter relay Kaitlyne Kador, Savannah Creech, Annalisse Thompson and Harmony Harris placed first overall in this event. in the girls 400 meter dash Amor Sheffield won the event. In the girls 300 meter hurdles, Munachi Anusiem won the event with a personal best and Kayla Randon Placed 2nd overall. In the girls 200 meters Kayla Stephney won and Savannah Creech placed 2nd overall. In the girls 1600 meter run Cami Lidisky won and Alyssa Heikkila finished in 2nd place. Rounding out the final event of the evening, the girls 4 by 400 meter relay placed first overall with Grace Wahome, Stephanie Chukwu, Amor Sheffield and Jada Dillard. Way to go girls!!!!!!
