District Tennis Tournament

On Thursday afternoon, the JV and Varsity tennis teams completed district play at the district tournament. The Longhorns fought hard and brought home a top of hardware. In fact, of the 15 medals up for grabs in the freshman draws, George Ranch brought home 8 and of the 15 medals up for grabs in the JV draws, JV brought home 5 of them. Furthermore, freshman Boys and Girls took 1st and the JV Girls took first as well.

  • Jeremy Bui brought home 4th in Freshman Boys’ Singles

Boys Track at 23-6A District Track Meet

The Varsity Boys Track team competed in the 23-6A District Track Meet this past weekend. The team finished 2nd over all with many outstanding performances. The following athletes advanced to the Area track meet this Friday at Dickinson High School. Josh Treisch finished 4th in the 3200m run. In pole vault, all three vaulters advanced and with a big personal best by Jacob Adair with a vault of 16ft which is tied for the best vault in 6A state. Robert Platt finished 2nd with a vault of 15ft and Nathan Grayson finished 4th with a vault of 13ft 6in. The 4×1 relay team advances with a season best 41.09. the relay members were Avery Veiseh, Champion Allison, Seabastian Arellano and Jayson Baldridge. The 4x200m relay advances to Area. Those members were Seabastian Arellano, Thomas Cook, Faybian Marks and Stephan Hegger Bragger. In the 300 hurdles, Jayson Baldridge won with a 37.45 and Colton Pounders advances with a personal best of 39.73. In the 400m dash, Champion Allison wins with a personal best of 46.15 and is currently ranked number 1 in the state and number 3 in the country. The 4x400m relay won with a 3:14. 41. Moving on to area with the top time. those members were Jayson Baldridge, Avery Veiseh, Faybian Marks and Champion Allison.

Softball at Brazoswood

The Longhorns played Buccaneers last night at Brazoswood. JV lost 6 to 0. Emily Hoefer, Alyssa Osadchuk and Jayden Smith all had singles to lead the offense. Varsity played a tough game but fell short 4 to 2. London Diller pitched a great game with 5 strikeouts and giving up only 4 hits. Lexi Tovar and Taylor Pesina had singles. Baseball Beat Pearland Dawson

The Varsity Baseball team improved to 23-1 (8-0 District) with a 13-0 victory over Pearland Dawson in 5 innings. Joseph Menefee threw 4 hit less innings with Garrett Arredondo closing it out. The Longhorns combined for 12 hits with Kyle Boudreaux, Ty Abraham, Dylan Rock, and Bryce Debbs adding multiple hits. Boudreaux, Menefee, Brad Armstrong, and Jake Zatopek each had extra base hits with Zach Holhuter adding a solo bomb. The Longhorns will travel to Brazoswood on Tuesday to take on the Bucs.

Tennis at District 23-6A Championship

This past Thursday and Friday, the girls and boys tennis team completed in the District 23-6A Championship here at George Ranch. George Ranch High School boys brought home the District Championship. The boys teams all placed in the top three in each one of the five draws. In boys singles, Marc Maciel brought home the Silver medal with Ryan Cao bring home the bronze medal. In boys doubles, the team of Johnthan Tan and Jack Berry brought home the silver with the team of Ryan Grace and Thomas Mandell bring home the bronze medal. In mix doubles, the team of Josh Joe and Julia White brought home the silver medal and the team of William Blanco and Megan Foster brought home the bronze. George Ranch High School Girls finished in second place by three points. They performed well in every draw. Chloe Redies brought home the only gold medal with a win in girls singles. The team of Hannah Rosebanum and Pari Khawaja brought home the bronze medal in girls doubles. Everyone who finished in the top two will be heading the Deer Park April 18 and April 19 to complete in the Region II I 6A Tennis tournament.

Girls Track Placed 3rd in 23-6A District Meet

The girls Varsity track team placed 3rd overall at the 2017 23-6A District Championships. The Longhorns performed well with their first year in 6A and solidified many qualifying spots to the Area meet this Friday. In field events, Alexis Woods became the only and first 23-6A District champion in girls triple jump. She also placed 3rd in long jump which allowed her to move on to the next round. In the girls distance events, Junior Theresa McComiskey placed 2nd in the 1600 meter run and 3rd in the 3200 meter run moving her on to the next round. Teammate Katia Davis placed 4th in the girls 3200 meter run which sealed her a spot in Area as well. In the hurdles, Senior Abisola Anifowoshe placed 2nd to add to point totals and qualified her in the area meet. Sophomore Nyla Barlow doubled up placing 2nd in both the 400 meter run and the 200 meter running personal records in both qualifying to the area meet. Running next to her was teammate Camille Rutherford who placed 3rd in the 200 meters qualifying to area. Junior Jasmine George ran swiftly in the girls 100 meter run and placed 4th edging out competition to run in the next round. All three relays made it in to area and are ready to take on the next level. The girls 4×100 relay ran a season best and placed 2nd with Jasmine George, Nyla Barlow, Mikayla Wright and Camille Rutherford. In the girls 4×200 meter relay, the girls placed 2nd with Faith White, Alexis Woods, Mikayla Wright and Camille Rutherford. The girls 4×400 relay placed 4th and ran a season best with Munachi Anusiem, Alexandria Franklin, Savannah Creech and Victoria Tennon. Contributing to point totals were Mikayla Wright 6th in the 100, Munachi Anusiem 6th in the 300 meter hurdles, Katia Davis 5th and Brooke Johnson 6th in the girls 1600 meter run.

JV Boys Track Wins District Title

xctrackLast night the JV Boys Track Team won the district title. Freshman came in fourth. First place finishes for the night included Marcus Diep, Connor McVoy,Ike Okoye,and Isaac Williams in the shot put. Great job guys!

JV Softball at Spring Tourney

softballOn Thursday the Longhorn JV Softball team competed in the first day of the Spring Tournament. The longhorns dropped the first two games to Spring, 7-2 and 8-0 respectively. Jayden Smith crossed the plate for both runs in the first game. In the final game of the day, the Longhorns beat Oak Ridge 6-0. Pitching for the Longhorns was Alyssa Osadchuk. She gave up five hits, struck out three batters while walking one. Tournament play continues on Saturday.

Softball Beat Pearland Dawson

softballThe Longhorn softball team played Pearland Dawson on Tuesday. The JV started the night off with a 3-2 loss. Getting the RBI’s for the Horns were Alyssa Osadchuk and JJ Smith. The Varsity ended the night with a 3-0 shutout. Pitching the complete game was Alexis Tovar with 6 strikeouts. Hitting was led by Reese Scott who had a 2 run single and Kayte Martinez had a RBI single to pad the lead. The Horns are traveling to Brazoswood next Tuesday.

Boys Track Wins Cy-Fair ISD Relays

xctrackThe Longhorn Varsity Track Team competed at the Cy-Fair ISD Relays last Friday. The boys won the meet will a lot of great performances. In Pole Vault, Robert Platt finished first, Jacob Adair finished 2nd and Nathan Grayson finished 4th. In the 3200M Run, Joshua Triesch finished 3rd, Robert Lord finished 9th and Connor McVoy finished 13th. in the 1600M Run, Jimmy Olmos finished 8th, Luke Edgmon finished 12th and Hunter Davis finished 19th. In the 800M Run, Wilson Hinz finished 3rd, Ian Hernandez finished 14th and Marcus Diep finished 20th. In the 100M Dash, Cristian Velez finished 9th, Thomas Cook finished 13th and Cody Gardner finished 18th. in the 200M Dash, Champion Allison finished 1st and Avery Veiseh Finished 6th. in the 400M Dash, Dylan Swain finished 16th. In the 300M Hurdles, Colton Pounders finished 2nd. The 4x100M Relay finished 5th and the the 4x200M Relay finished 2nd and the 4x400M Relay finished 1st. In Discus, Jeremiah Russell finished 5th and Colton Robertson finished 16th. In the Shot Put, Travis Lafall finished 8th, Jeremiah Russell finished 10th and Nathan Hernandez finished 14th. In High Jump, Joel Barrera finished 2nd, Joshua Okoye finished 6th and JaMarkus Taylor finished 8th. In Long Jump, Kosi Ejeckum finished 10th. In the Triple Jump, Caleb Johnson finished 6th and Damien Gaston finished 11th and Damon Johnson finished 12th. The Longhorns will be competing again at Angleton Relays this Friday at 1:30 PM and Texas Relays Friday and Saturday.
