Girls’ Varsity Basketball v. Elkins (Bi-District Playoffs)

Basketball

The varsity girls took on Elkins last night in the first round of playoffs. The Longhorns were down by 11 points in the first half, but turned it up a notch in the 3rd quarter, tying the game 32-32. The Longhorns fought hard to the end, but came up short 44-38. The Longhorns finished the season with a 16-12 record. The leading scorers were Chinwe Eke with 11 points and Julia Schwake with 10 points. The coaching staff is extremely proud of the girls and look forward to next season.

Girls’ Basketball v. Calhoun

The Longhorns played their last district game on the road against Calhoun.

Varsity – The varsity girls fought to the end, but came up short 38-41. The leading scorers were Kendall Bess with 10 points and Julia Schwake with 8 points. Congratulations to the varsity girls for finishing 2nd in district 23-5A! The varsity girls will play their first playoff game next Tuesday.

JV – The junior varsity girls beat Calhoun 45-32. The leading scorers were Chidube Ogbonna and Jerrica Simon with 13 points. The junior varsity girls finished the season undefeated, 10-0 in district this year.

Freshman – The Freshman girls beat Calhoun 33-25. The leading scorers were Chinazum Omeludike with 11 points and Christasia Lee with 8 points. The freshman girls finished 3rd in district.

Girls’ Basketball v. Lamar

The Longhorns took on Lamar this past Friday.

Varsity – The varsity girls fought to the end of the last second, but came up short to Lamar, 42-47. The leading scorer was Julia Schwake with 22 points.

JV – The JV girls kept Lamar in single digits, beating the Mustangs 39-8. The leading scorers were Chidube Ogbonna with 10 points and Hannah Agner with 9 points.

Girls’ Basketball v. Foster

The Lady Longhorns played against Foster yesterday.

Varsity – The varsity girls made school history and clinched a playoff spot with a win against Foster 60-55. The leading scorers were Lauren Boyd with 13 points, Rita Okoye, Kendall Bess, and Julia Schwake with 10 points each.

JV – The junior varsity battled the entire game and won 51-41. The leading scorers were Jerrica Simon with 22 points and Chidube Ogbonna with 12 points.

Freshman – The freshman girls fell short to the Falcons 44-32. The leading scorers were Tracey Nelson with 8 points and Chelsea Azinae with 7 points.

The Lady Longhorns completed their first round of district last Friday against Calhoun.
Varsity – The varsity girls fought from behind the whole game and came up short 42-37 against Calhoun. The leading scorers were Julia Schwake with 12 points and Kendall Bess with 10 points.
JV – The junior varsity beat Calhoun 35-28. The leading scorers were Jerrica Simon with 12 points and Hannah Agner with 7 points.
Freshman – The freshman girls beat Calhoun 44-29. The leading scorers were Jasmine Frechel with 9 points, Chinazom Omeludike, Lindsey Bone and Brittney White with 7 points each.

Girls’ Basketball v. Lamar

Yesterday, the Lady Longhorns traveled to Lamar High School to take on the Mustangs.

Varsity – The varsity girls extended their district winning streak to 4-0. The varsity girls beat Lamar 59-51. The leading scorers were Julia Schwake with 14 points, followed by Kendall Bess with 10 points.

JV – The junior varsity kept the Mustangs to 2 points going into the second half. The Lady Longhorns beat Lamar 42-8. The leading scorers were Chidube Ogbonna with 17 points and Jerrica Simon and Precious Ike with 6 points each.

The Lady Longhorns will face Calhoun at home on Friday. Please come out and show your support!

The Lady Longhorns played Terry High School last Friday.

Varsity – The varsity girls played an intense game on Friday. The Lady Longhorns came up with a huge win, 48-38, pushing their district winning streak to 3-0. The leading scorers were Alexis White with 14 points, Julia Schwake and Kendall Bess both with 11 points each.

JV – The junior varsity girls came up with a big win, 48-26. The leading scorers were Chidube Ogbonna with 14 points and Hannah Agner with 10 points.

Freshman – The freshman girls came up short to the Rangers, 21-33. The leading scorers were Chinazom Omeeludie with 11 points, followed by Brittany White with 6 points.

The Lady Longhorns took on the Angleton Wildcats on Tuesday, January 13.

Varsity – The varsity girls entered the fourth quarter with a tie game. The Lady Longhorns played hard the entire game and beat Angleton 43-40. The leading scorers were Julia Schwake with 18 points, followed by Kendall Bess with 6 points.

JV – The JV girls finished with a victory of 45-15. The leading scorers were Hannah Agner with 11 points and Chidube Ogbonna with 10 points.

Freshman – The freshman girls beat Angleton 38-6. The leading scorers were Jasmine Hendrix with 9 points and Chisom Oganna and Christasia Lee with 8 points.

The Lady Longhorns played their first district game against Foster this past Friday.

Varsity – The Varsity girls started the game strong and ended with a huge win over Foster 64-34. The leading scorers were Alexis White with 17 points and Julia Schwake with 16 points. The Lady Longhorns will play against Angleton tomorrow at home. Please come out and support.

JV – The junior varsity girls beat Foster 67-30. The leading scorers were Chidube Ogbonna with 18 points and Hannah Agner with 14 points.

Freshman – The freshman girls came up short against Foster 37-42. The leading scorers were Chinazam Omeodike and Cristasia Lee with 12 points each.
