Varsity Tennis – Klein Varsity Classic Results

The Longhorns took 3rd in girls’ doubles (out of 32 entries). This doubles team of Alessandra Jara and Rachel Dziuk has medaled in every tournament so far this spring. They fell to the Woodlands in the semi-finals (and the Woodlands went on to win the tournament). The girls beat San Antonio Johnson for 3rd place in a long 2-hour match. The final score was 6-7, 7-5, 6-4. The Longhorns also took 19th place in a very competitive boys doubles draw. The doubles team of Joey Ballone and Trevor Sellers defeated the Woodlands 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 to earn a medal.

Tennis – FBISD Tournament Results

The varsity tennis competed in the FBISD tournament last Friday. Rachel Dziuk and Alessandra Jara took home consolation in a draw composed of mostly 6A teams. Joshua Joe also did well making it to the consolation finals.

JV Tennis – FBISD Tournament Results

The JV tennis team participated in the FBISD freshmen tournament yesterday and all athletes did a great job. Grace Nguyen and Noah Smith won mixed doubles consolation, and Ben Miller and Ryan Cao brought home 2nd place in boys’ doubles. Way to go!

Tennis – Angleton ISD Results

This past Friday the Longhorn varsity tennis team traveled to compete in the Angleton ISD tournament. The team finished 3rd overall in the A division and brought home a trophy for 2nd in the B division. Medal winners for the Longhorns were:

Aisha Sheikh took 2nd in the B girls’ singles draw

JV Tennis – LCISD Tournament Results

GRHS hosted the annual LCISD JV Tennis Tournament yesterday, which brought over 30 schools. The Longhorns had many great matches and were able to come home with some impressive medals. Will Blanco took home a Consolation medal for boys A singles, and Dawson Pate and Nick Luu won the Consolation medal for boys C doubles. What a great way to start the spring tennis season!

Varsity Tennis – Pearland Tournament Results

This past Friday the varsity tennis team opened its season at the 18th annual Pearland Tournament. Highlights of the tournament included Alessandra Jara and Rachel Dziuk taking 2nd place in the A Girls’ Doubles Draw, Jeremy Harvey making it to the consolation final in the A Boys’ Singles Draw, Alexi Redies making it to the semi-finals of the B Boys’ Singles draw, Josh Joe and Jules Bourgeois making it to the semi-finals of the B Mixed draw, Destiny Rutherford making it to the semi-finals of the A Girls’ Singles draw.

Winter and Spring Sports Tryouts

Girls’ Track & Field – All girls interested in trying out for the 2015 track and field season must see head girls’ Coach A. Dutch or Coach Gloff by Tuesday, November 25th. Practice starts Monday, December 1st. Requirements are to have an athletic physical packet on file, as well as be in good standing with academics and discipline in order to try out.

Boys’ Track & Field – All boys interested in trying out for the 2015 track and field season must see head boys’ Coach T. Dutch or Coach Fairhurst by Tuesday, November 25th. Practice starts Monday, December 1st. Requirements are to have an athletic physical packet on file, as well as be in good standing with academics and discipline in order to try out.

Boys’ Soccer – The George Ranch boys’ soccer team will be having open tryouts on Monday, December 1st through Wednesday, December 3rd after school from 4:00-5:30pm. Anyone interested in trying out for the 2014-2015 season will need to sign up with Coach Torres in Room 2319 and have an athletic physical on file for the 2014-2015 school year.

Girls’ Soccer – If you are interested in being a part of the girls soccer program, tryouts will be held from 4:00-5:30pm on December 1st- December 3rd. If you are interested, please see Coach Pratt in room 1610 for more information. Remember that you must have a current completed LCISD Athletic Physical on file to tryout!

Tennis – If anyone is interested in playing tennis this spring, please come see Coach Guidry in room 2412.

Tennis v. Stratford (Regional Tournament)

Congratulations to the GRHS Varsity tennis program on a great season. The Longhorns fell to 3rd seeded Stratford in the regional play-offs on Friday. Our team played the best they have all season. Players of the match were: Alessandra Jara, Megan Foster, Camille Saha, Cole Jackson, Destiny Rutherford, Jules Bourgeois, and Chris Blanco. Teammate of the day was Cindy Chen.

The Longhorns will be back in action during the 2nd semester!

Tennis – LCISD JV Tournament Results

Longhorn JV Tennis played their first tournament of the year in the LCISD JV/Freshman tournament. We walked away with some impressive medals including Noah Joe in Boys B Singles, Paulina Casados and Mariana Brandon in Girls B doubles, Sean Neil and Andrew Wong in Boys B Doubles, Hannah Rosenbaum in Girls B Singles, Ben Miller and Adam Czernuszenko in Boys C doubles. What a great day of tennis!
