Tennis at Katy ISD Spring Tournament

tennis_ball_128Yesterday JV Tennis competed in the Katy ISD Spring Tournament, and we had a fantastic showing! There were many hard fought matches, and a full 50% of the precipitants came away with a medal! Coach Raley and Coach Guidry are so proud of the effort these students athletes are putting in. Medal winners are as follows:

  • Freshmen A Girls Singles – Alexis Fry; 1st place
  • Freshmen A Boy Doubles – Victor Connor/Finn Newman – 2nd place
  • JV A Girls Doubles – Heather Wunsch/Lauren Thompson – 3rd place
  • JV B Girls Doubles – Olivia Ledgerwood/Leah Thaxton – 3rd place
  • JV B Mixed Doubles – Nick Chin/Nerija Sickel – 1st place

Varsity Tennis at Angleton Tournament

tennis_ball_128This past Friday the Longhorn Varsity Tennis Team traveled to the Angleton Tournament. The team had entries in 9 of the draws and earn medals in 7 of them. It was a great showing by the team! Medals winners are as follows:

  • Ryan Cao – A Boys Singles Consolation Winner
  • Jake Berry and Jonathan Tan – A Boys Doubles – 2nd Place

  • Joshua Joe and Cassie Chen – A Mixed Doubles – 1st Place (Champions)
  • Will Blanco and Hannah Rosenbaum – A Mixed Doubles – 2nd Place
  • Grace Nguyen and Thomas Mandell – B Mixed Doubles – 1st Place (Champions)

Go luck to the JV team as they compete in the FBISD tournament this week and to the varsity team as they travel to the Klein Tournament on Friday.

Football Beats Alief Elsik

footballOur Longhorns played very well this past Friday getting back in the winning column. We were also able to clinch a playoff berth as we defeated the Elsik Rams 36-9 in a dominating fashion. Defense had an outstanding performance allowing only 112 total yards’ offense to the Rams. Defense had some key turnovers with Matthew Burger and Brandon Greer accounting for two of those turnovers. On offense Eric Michel, Alex Fontenot, Jay’Ren Miller and David Fisher all contributed in scoring efforts. This Friday we take on Alief Taylor “Lions” game time 7pm at Crump Stadium, please come out and support us.

Sub-Varsity Football vs Alief Elsik

footballThe freshmen Black Team played Alief Elsik last night and tied 6 to 6. Brett Jetton Scored on a 2 yard touchdown run. On the defense side John Paquette made an interception which turn the game around to help the offense score. Great game longhorns.  Last night the JV Black football won their district contest against Alief Elsik 22- 14. Trvion Phillips scored first for the Longhorns followed by Semaj Brown and Justus Williams. Next Noel Shibud stripped the ball and ran it in for a score on defense. The Longhorns complete their season next week at home against the Alief Taylor Lions.  The Freshman Maroon football team hosted Elsik last night and came away with a 46-6 victory. Ashton Stredick and Andre Falquay scored for the Longhorn offense with 2 and 3 touchdowns respectively. Stredick would also add a 2- point conversion to the mix. Special teams saw a kick-off return for a touchdown by Tim Odusola and a punt return by Faybian Marks for six with Carlos Villagomez adding the PAT. The defense kept the Rams off the board until late in the game and forced several turnovers. The Longhorns will end district play next week as they travel to Alief Taylor with a 3-1-1 record.

Volleyball Sweeps Alief Taylor

volleyball_128The Longhorn Volleyball program played their last home game of the season last night. All 3 teams swept Alief Taylor to close out district play. The freshman team defeated Alief Taylor with scores of 25-11 and 25-8. The freshman ended the season with an over-all record of 16-12 and a district record of 7-5. The JV team defeated Alief Taylor with scores of 25-5 and 25-7. The JV ended the season with an over-all record of 20-6 and a district record of 11-1 capturing the district championship. The varsity squad defeated Alief Taylor with scores of 25-16, 25-10, and 25-5. Serve ace leaders were Kennedy Prince with 3, Audrey Tuttle with 2, and Kristen Garcia-Rameau with 2. Kill leaders were Valerie Valerian with 15 and Cassie Coker with 10. Set assist leaders were Olivia Gray with 18 and Alaina Lanik with 10. Serve receive leaders were Valerie Valerian with 8 and Cheyenne Horst with 8. Block leaders were Kennedy Prince with 3, Stacy Chukwujekwu with 3, Cassie Coker with 3, and Samantha Garza with 2. Dig leaders were Cheyenne Horst with 20 and Valerie Valerian with 16. The Longhorns close out regular season play with an over-all record of 30-10 and a district record of 8-4. Playoffs will begin next week. Stay tuned for details.

volleyball_128The Longhorn Volleyball program traveled to Alief Elsik Friday night and came home with 3 wins. The freshman squad defeated Elsik with scores of 25-13 and 25-20. The JV team dominated the match and easily took down Elsik with scores of 25-8 and 25-7. The varsity team defeated the Lady Rams in 3 straight sets with scores of 25-10, 25-21, and 25-13. Kill leaders were Valerie Valerian with 19 and Kennedy Prince with 12. Set assist leaders were Alaina Lanik with 14 and Mady Rathmell with 11. Block Leaders were Valerie Valerian with 3 and Cassie Coker with 3. Dig leaders were Brianna Franklin with 10 and Cheyenne Horst with 10. Serve ace leader was Audrey Tuttle with 7 aces. Serve receive leaders were Audrey Tuttle with 12 and Valerie Valerian with 9.
