Girls’ Golf – District Championship Results

Congratulations to the varsity girls’ golf team who won the district championship for the first time in school history. Tenzin Palkyi also made school history becoming the first Longhorn to win the girls’ individual district championship with her rounds of 81-79. Brooke Murphy-3rd place individual, as well as Aubrie Luckenbill, Ashton Maughan, and Audrey Nguyen brought home the gold medals beating second place Foster by 39 shots.

The Longhorns (boys and girls) will send 15 players to the region tournament this week at River Ridge where state berths can be earned. What a great couple of days for the Longhorns on the course!

Varsity Golf – District Preview Results

Both the boys’ and girls’ varsity golf teams won the district preview tournament held on Monday at Fort Bend Country Club. The girls’ team score of 383 bested runner-up Foster by 16 shots. Tenzin Palkyi-82 won first place individually, and Brooke Murphy finished in fourth place with a 94. Audrey Nguyen-100 finished in 6th place, Ashton Maughan-107, and Kylie Clark-122 brought home the golds. Katie Koerth shot 123 as a medalist. Out of 13 Longhorn boys that played Monday, seven of them broke 80. Adam Garza-74, Marcus Lopez-75, Zane Warren-77, Mathew Maier-78, Brian Noh-78, Nick Nguyen-78, Chris Lopez-79, Drew Hartman-81, Mathew Mills-81, Ross Johansen-83, Cameron Crabtree-85 and Thomas Kuznar-85 helped the Longhorns dominate the leaderboard. The district tournament for all of these players is April 6-7.

Girls’ Golf – El Campo Tournament Results

The varsity girls’ golf team ran way with a first place victory in El Campo on Thursday beating second place Foster by 29 shots. Tenzin Palkyi won the individual title by 10 strokes with her score of 82. Brooke Murphy finished in third place individually with her round of 96. Ashton Maughan shot a personal best score of 100 to finish in 5th. Also bringing home the gold team medals were Aubrie Luckenbill-107 and Kylie Clark-109.

Boys’ Golf – LCISD Spring Invitational Results

Varsity – The Longhorn boys’ varsity golf teams took first and second place in the LCISD Spring Invitational on Monday and Tuesday. Playing through rain, wind, cold, and sleet, the first team ran away with the title by 29 shots with a two-day team total of 652. The second varsity beat out district rival Foster by one shot with a two-day total of 681.

JV – The JV team played in the tournament and captured fifth place in the 11-team field. Junior Chris Lopez finished second place individually with rounds of 76-78.

Other members of the first place team are Zane Warren, Marcus Lopez, Bobby Vega and Mathew Maier. Finishing second were Adam Garza, Brian Noh, Jack Weaver, Ross Johansen and Drew Hartman. Finishing fifth place were Cameron Crabtree, Mathew Mills, John Hance. Nick Nguyen and Thomas Kuznar.

JV Girls’ Golf – West Columbia Tournament Results

The girls’ JV golf team traveled to Columbia Lakes on Thursday to compete in the West Columbia Varsity Tournament. The girls fought hard in the cold and windy conditions but came up short, finishing outside the top 3 with a combined score of 509. Competing for the girls were Haley Beddingfield, Kylie Clark, Rae Gresso, and Katie Koerth.

Varsity Boys’ Golf – Tournament Results

This weekend the varsity golf team finished in second place with team scores of 311 and 317 on Friday and Saturday. Chris Lopez finished tied for 3rd with rounds of 77/79. Marcus Lopez, Matthew Maier, Bobby Vega and Zane Warren brought home the medals. The second varsity team of Drew Hartman, Brian Noh, Ross Johansen, Adam Garza and Jack Weaver turned in team scores of 354 and 350 to finish in 7th place.

JV Golf – Quail Valley Results

The boys’ JV golf teams placed second and fifth Monday at Quail Valley, beating out many of the area’s toughest 6A JV teams. Lance Ferguson-85 and freshman Nick Nguyen-87 led the team to a score of 355 with help from Cameron Crabtree-91, John Hance-92 and Mathew Mills-94 for the second place finish. The second JV team was led by freshman Thomas Kuznar-85, Aaron Taylor-94, Brandon Taylor-96, Connor Rodriguez-97, and Alec Guinness-101. Ferguson and Kuznar tied for fourth place individually. The boys’ varsity teams will play this Friday and Saturday at Greatwood. Come out and watch the Longhorns who are currently ranked #10 in the state.

Varsity Boys’ Golf – Golf Club of Houston Results

The boys’ Varsity golf team played Friday and Saturday at the Golf Club of Houston, home of the Shell Houston Open, and came away with a 5th place finish. Junior Chris Lopez led the way with his rounds of 79-76 while freshman Matthew Maier carded rounds of 75-83. Rounding out the scoring were Bobby Vega 82-82, Zane Warren 88-80 and Marcus Lopez 87-83. The team scored 323 and 321 in a field made up primarily of the best 6A teams in region 3.

Boys’ JV Golf – Pecan Grove CC Results

The boys’ JV golf team battled the wind and cold Monday to come away with a first place finish at Pecan Grove Country Club. The team shot a 384, which was good for a 7-shot win over Ridge Point. John Hance led the team with his round of 89, which put him in 4th place individually. Thomas Kuznar-95, Aaron Taylor-98, and Brandon Taylor-102 helped to bring home the gold.

Golf – LCISD Tournament Results

The boys’ and girls’ golf teams played Monday in the LCISD varsity/JV tournament at River Pointe Golf Club. Bobby Vega finished 3rd overall out of 91 boys with his round of 78, just 2 shots out of first. Cameron Crabtree fired a 79 to finish in 7th. Tenzin Palkyi finished in 2nd place out of 65 girls with her round of 84, which included an eagle on the par 5 10th hole!
