soccerThe Varsity girls’ soccer team competed in the Spring Branch Varsity tournament over the weekend. They opened up with a 1-0 win over the Sealy Tigers to advance them to the winners’ side of the bracket. Julia Linton scored a long 35-yard shot with an assist from Jennifer Ellefson. Strong play came in the goal from Michelle Mills. In their second game the Longhorns came out with a narrow 6-5 victory over the Spring Woods Tigers by winning 4-2 in penalty shots. Julia Linton lead all scores with 3 goals followed by Shreya Desai and Colleen Janecek each scoring one goal each. Alma Ramirez played solid in the goal, stopping a PK for the win. In the championship game the Longhorns came up just short of a victory losing 2-1 to a solid Northshore team. Sabrina Flores scored the only goal for the Longhorns by beating the keeper on a one-on-one shot. Solid play came from Danielle Martinez, Meghan Burger and Raven Towns.  The girls will travel to Kempner on Tuesday to take on the Lady Cougars.
