Volleyball v. Ridge Point (Regional Quarterfinals)

The Longhorn volleyball team traveled to Don Coleman Coliseum last night to take on Ridge point in the Regional Quarterfinal Match. The Longhorns lost a hard fought battle to a very talented Ridge Point squad with scores of 13-25, 26-24, 19-25, and 18-24. Kill leaders were Mattie Ward with 11 and Allyson Dernehl with 9. Assist leader was Tori Luckenbill with 22 set assists. Digleaders were Tori Luckenbill and Caitlyn Pinkston with 10 each followed by Shelby Tondre with 8. Block leader was Ambrielle Logan with 7 total blocks.  Ace leaders for the Longhorns were Allyson Dernehl with 3, Tori Luckenbill with 2, and Caitlyn Pinkston with 2.

Volleyball v. Barbers Hill

Your 2014 District and Bi-District Volleyball Champs are now your 2014 5A Area Champs! The Longhorn Varsity volleyball team continues its quest for a State Championship with a tough win over Barbers Hill on Friday with scores of 27-29, 25-19, 27-25, 16-25, and 15-13. Kill leaders were Allyson Dernehl with 13, Stacy Chukwujekwu with 12, Mattie Ward with 11, and Ambrielle Logan with 10. Set assist leaders were Tori Luckenbill with 31 and Allison Lanik with 21. Dig leaders were Abbey Messick with 26, Luckenbill with 21, and Dernehl with 20. Block leaders were Logan with 16, Ward with 14, and Dernehl with 13. Service ace leader was Dernehl with 4.

The Longhorns will take on Ridge Point in the Regional Quarterfinals on Tuesday at Coleman Coliseum in the Spring Branch ISD (1050 N. Dairy Ashford Rd., Houston) at 6:00pm.

Come out to Coleman Coliseum on Tuesday to watch our volleyball team compete in the Regional Quarterfinals! The Longhorns will take on the Ridge Point Panthers at 6:00pm. Coleman Coliseum is located in Spring Branch ISD at 1050 N. Dairy Ashford Rd., Houston. GO LONGHORNS!

Volleyball v. Bush (Bi-District Playoff Round)

The Longhorn Varsity Volleyball team took on Fort Bend Bush last night in the first round of the 2014 state volleyball playoffs. The Longhorns defeated Bush in 3 straight sets with scores of 25-22, 25-21, and 25-19 to win the Bi-District Title. Kill leaders for the Longhorns were Mattie Ward with 12 and Allyson Dernehl with 10. Set assist leader was Tori Luckenbill with 21. Dig leader was Abbey Messick with 14 digs. Block leader was Mattie Ward with 9 total blocks. Tori Luckenbill served up 3 aces for the night.

The Longhorns will now advance to Area as they take on Barbers Hill on Friday at Phillips Field House in Pasadena at 6:30pm. Go Horns!!

Volleyball v. Foster

In true George Ranch form of “We Win At The Ranch,” the Longhorn volleyball teams swept the Foster Falcons on Tuesday night! The Freshman and JV teams capped off their district championship seasons with impressive wins.

Freshman took the court and won 25-15 and 25-21, bringing their overall record to 24-2.

The JV finished their season with scores of 25-15 and 25-19 ending with a 21-3 record and 10-0 in district play.

The Longhorn Varsity team took the court determined to bring down the Falcon nest, which has been at the top since they opened their doors. Your district champs beat the Lady Falcons in 5 sets with scores of 23-25, 25-18, 21-25, 25-22, and 16-14. Kill leader for the Longhorns was Allyson Dernehl with 15 kills. Block leader was Ambrielle Logan with 12 blocks. Set assist leader was Tori Luckenbill with 39. Dig leader was Abbey Messick with 15 digs. Tori Luckenbill produced 3 service aces for the Longhorns. Player of the Match goes to the entire Varsity Volleyball Team for bringing home the first GRHS volleyball district championship!! Congratulations!!

Volleyball v. Terry

The Longhorn volleyball teams traveled to B. F. Terry High School to take on the Lady Rangers. All 3 teams came home with wins.

The Freshman team defeated Terry with scores of 25-21 and 25-18.

The JV followed suit defeating the Lady Rangers with scores of 25-11 and 25-12.

The Longhorn Varsity volleyball team took down the Lady Rangers in 3 straight sets with scores of 25-14, 25-18, and 25-9. Kill leader for the Longhorns was Tori Luckenbill with 10. Set assist leaders were Tori Luckenbill with 18 and Allison Lanik with 15. Block leader was Mattie Ward with 7. Dig leader was Abbey Messick with 14. Allison Lanik produced 5 service aces for the Longhorns. Player of the match was #12 Tori Luckenbill.

The Longhorns will take the court this Tuesday here at Longhorn Gym as they take on the Foster Lady Falcons. Freshman and JV take the court at 5:00pm followed by Varsity at 6:00pm.

The Longhorn Volleyball teams traveled to Calhoun High School last night to take on the Sandcrabs. The freshman team lost a tough match to Calhoun with scores of 25-22, 23-25, and 21-25. The JV team defeated Calhoun in 2 straight sets with scores of 25-12 and 25-18. The Longhorn Varsity volleyball team took on a feisty Calhoun squad winning the battle in 5 sets with scores of 25-17, 25-19, 23-25, 23-25, and 15-10. Kill leader for the Longhorns was Allyson Dernehl with 16 kills. Set assist leaders were Tori Luckenbill with 32, followed by Allison Lanik with 26. Block leader was Mattie Ward with 19 total blocks. Dig leader was Tori Luckinbill with 31 digs. Serve ace leader was Abbey Messick with 3. Player of the match was #14 Allyson Dernehl.

The Longhorns will travel to B. F. Terry this Friday night to take on the Lady Rangers. Varsity takes the court at 5pm followed by Freshman and JV at 6.
