Volleyball v. Angleton

Congratulations to the Longhorn volleyball teams who trounced the Wildcats of Angleton. It turned out to be a long bus ride to the game and an even longer one on the way back for the Lady Wildcats who had little to cheer about.

Varsity – The varsity got it started by beating Angleton with scores of 25-12, 25-10, and 25-10 to remain in the district title hunt. Kill leader was Mattie Ward with 9 kills. Set assist leaders were Tori Luckenbill with 19, followed by Allison Lanik with 14. Dig leader was Caitlyn Pinkston with 10 digs. Block leader was Ambrielle Logan with 6 blocks. Abbey Messick contributed 2 service aces. Player of the match was #11 Ainsley Mandell.

JV & Freshman – The JV and freshman teams did their part in winning and remaining undefeated in district play. The JV won with scores of 25-13 and 25-15, while the freshmen made it a little more exciting winning with scores of 25-16 and 25-23.

The Longhorns travel to Calhoun on Tuesday to have a little crab fest of their own.

Volleyball v. Calhoun

Congratulations to the Longhorn volleyball teams that rendered the Sandcrabs from Calhoun virtually clawless. Varsity dropped the first game of the match 23-25 only to put the clamps on their opponent and turn up the heat to defeat the Sandcrabs in games 2, 3, and 4 with scores of 25-16, 25-21, and 25-20, which made them boiling mad. The kill leader was Stacy Chukwujekwu with 14 kills. Set assist leaders were Allison Lanik with 25 followed by Tori Luckenbill with 23. Dig leader for the Longhorns was Allyson Dernehl with 20 digs. Block leaders were Mattie Ward with 10, Ambrielle Logan with 8, and Dernehl with 8. Service ace leader was Dernehl with 3 aces. The player of the match was #14 Allyson Dernehl.

The JV and Freshman teams followed suit with the JV winning 25-14 and 25-14. The freshman won 25-20 and 25-16. All 3 teams remain undefeated in district play as they prepare for the Terry Lady Rangers tonight at the Ranch. Game times are JV and Freshman at 5:00, followed by Varsity at 6:00.

Volleyball v. Lamar Consolidated

The George Ranch Longhorn volleyball teams began their quest of district titles by sweeping the Lady Mustangs from Lamar Consolidated on Friday. The freshmen got the ball rolling by defeating Lamar with scores of 25-14 and 25-20. The JV continued the domination of the Lady Mustangs by winning with scores of 25-13 and 25-9. The Varsity teased the Ponies with a slow start only to slam the door shut with convincing wins of 25-23, 25-13, and 25-8. Kill leaders for the Longhorns were Mattie Ward and Ambrielle Logan with 9 each. Set assist leaders were Tori Luckenbill with 25 and Allison Lanik with 13. Dig leader was Caitlyn Pinkston with 13 digs. Block leaders for the Longhorns were Mattie Ward with 4 followed by Ambrielle Logan with 3. Serve ace leader for the night was Allyson Dernehl with 2 aces. The next hurdle on the road to the district titles takes the Longhorns on the road in Angleton tonight against the Lady Wildcats.

Volleyball v. The Woodlands

In their final non-district tune-up match, the Longhorns traveled to take on the highly talented Woodlands Highlanders. While losing all sets at all levels to a very talented Highlanders program, it was great preparation to start up district play! The Longhorns are looking to get back on track in their district home opener this Thursday against Lamar Consolidated, and begin their quest to capture the district title on all 3 levels. Come out and support your Longhorn volleyball teams. Varsity takes the court at 5:00pm followed by Freshmen and JV teams at 6:00pm.

Volleyball v. Kinkaid

The Longhorn volleyball teams traveled to Kinkaid Friday night. The freshmen beat Kinkaid with scores of 25-6 and 25-6. The JV team also took down Kinkaid with scores of 25-22 and 25-12. The varsity team fell short to Kinkaid with scores of 20-25, 23-25, and 20-25. Kill leaders for the Longhorns were Tori Luckenbill and Allyson Dernehl with 8 each. The offense was set up by Allison Lanik with 16 set assists and Luckenbill with 13 set assists. Dig leader was Luckenbill with 10. Block leader was Mattie Ward with 9. Ace leader for the Longhorns was Abbey Messick with 2 serve aces. The player of the match was #12 Luckenbill.

Volleyball – LCISD Freshman Volleyball Tournament

The Longhorn Freshman volleyball team dominated the annual 2014 LCISD Freshman Volleyball Tournament. They captured 4 wins to win the Gold. They remain undefeated with a record of 13-0. To open tournament play, the Longhorns defeated Fort Bend Bush with scores of 25-12 and 25-10. They faced Needville in match 2, winning in 2 sets with scores of 25-17 and 25-14. In match 3 the Longhorns faced a competitive Travis squad but came up victorious with scores of 25-23 and 26-24. In the championship match, they faced St. Agnes who proved to be a test, pushing the match to 3 sets. The Longhorns captured the Gold by defeating St. Agnes with scores of 25-21, 14-25, and 16-14. Congratulations, freshmen!! Way to represent!
