Aquatics – Regional Results

The swim and dive teams competed at the Region 7 4A Championship meet this past weekend in San Antonio. The girls brought home a 2nd place finish while the boys brought home the 1st place finish defeating the 2013 4A state champs of Stratford High School! First place finishes and automatically advancing to State include the boys medley relay team of Blake Grote, Sean Mangel, Michael Dziuk, and Cody Moore, as well as the boys 200 free relay of Robby Valdez, Blake Grote, Sean Mangel, and Cody Moore. Other state advancers include Colby Reed in the boys’ 1-meter diving and Blake Grote in the 100 back. Congrats!

Aquatics – District Meet Results

The aquatics teams competed in the 25-4A district swim and dive meet. Both boys and girls brought home district runner-up. The boys narrowly missed beating defending 4A state champions, Stratford High School, by 1 and a half points.

Aaron O’Reilly broke his own freshman record in the 200 free, and Riley Murray broke her own freshman record in the 50 and 100 free. Coach Cooper was named boys district diving coach of the year, and Coach Regetz was named boys district swim coach of the year.

The aquatics teams had their last home meet last night where seniors Michael Dziuk, Patrick Garcia, Katie Gorka, Maddie Kuebker, Clay Lenderman, Sean Mangel, Jonathan Martinez, Willow McGuane, Cody Moore, Colby Reed, and Jasmyn Treadwell were honored for their commitment to the team.

The aquatics teams will be back in the pool on January 31 and February 1 for districts at the Spring Branch Natatorium.

Aquatics – Spring Branch ISD Meet Results

On January 9th, the GRHS aquatics team traveled to Spring Branch ISD. The boys’ team defeated last year’s district and regional champions, the big team of Stratford High School. The girls’ team came in 2nd to Stratford. The boys’ team results were GRHS 638 to Stratford 585. The girls’ team results were Stratford 615 to GRHS 553. The GRHS boys’ freshman record was broken by Aaron O’reilly in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:00.02.

Aquatics – Fort Bend Meet Results

The swim team traveled to Fort Bend to take on Ridge Point, Summer Creek, and Kingwood Park. The girls brought home 2nd place to Kingwood Park, and the boys brought home the win. First place finishes include Cody Moore in 50 free, Blake Grote in the 100 back, and Sean Mangel in the 100 breaststroke. Second place finishes include the boys 200 medley relay, Elizabeth Davis in the 200 and 500 free, David Kvinta in the 200 IM, the boys 200 free relay, and Emily Derouen in the 100 back.

The Longhorns will travel to Spring Branch to take on District rival, Stratford, on January 9th.

The Longhorn Aquatic teams competed in the CCISD TISCA Invitational Meet on Nov 22 -23 against some of the top 5A teams in the State.

Aquatics Meet Results v. Austin and Foster

The Longhorn Aquatic teams competed in a dual meet against Foster and FB Austin last Thursday. The boys’ team captured 1st place against Foster and Austin. The girls team captured 1st place against Foster and were 2nd place behind Austin. The boys broke pool records in the 200 medley relay, 200 freestyle relay and the 100 breast. The Aquatic team will travel to Corpus Christi on November 22 – 23 to compete in the CCISD TISCA Invitational Meet.

Aquatics – Foster/Dulles/Elkins Results

The boys’ and girls’ swim teams racked up 3 more wins on Tuesday against Foster, 5A Dulles, and 5A Elkins High Schools! The girls won all three relays, and the boys totally dominated the competition winning 13 of 15 events and placing 1st, 2nd and 3rd in three of them. The boys’ team remains undefeated in high school formatted meets!

Aquatics – LCISD Invitational Results

Longhorn Aquatic teams competed in the LCISD Invitational Swim & Dive Meet on Nov 1 and 2. The Boys Team only captured three 1st place finishes but, by utilizing the entire team, they captured the 1st place Team Win! The Girls Team finished 3rd place behind two strong teams, Kingwood Park and Friendswood. 15 teams competed in the meet.
