Boys’ Basketball v. Lamar

Basketball

Varsity – The Longhorn Varsity boys’ basketball team defeated the Lamar Consolidated Mustangs 58-47. The team was up from the opening tip and never gave up the lead. The team was led in scoring by Lennox Jones, Quintin Morris and Ndy Eze who all scored in double digits. D.J. Thomas and Chinedu Okoye battled inside all day. The win brings the team to 15-7 overall and 5-2 in district.

JV – The Longhorn JV team lost a tough game to the Lamar Consolidated Mustangs. The team was led by great scoring from Langston Williams and big play inside by Chuckwuma Ogbonna.

Freshman A – The boys’ Freshman A team beat the Lamar Mustangs 59-41 on Friday. Standouts on offense were Marvis Odia, Dylan Swain and DJ Ray. Standouts on defense were Matthew Burger, Josh Okoye and Darius Russaw.

Freshman Boys’ Basketball v. Terry

Freshman B – The George Ranch boys’ Freshman B basketball team traveled to Terry on Tuesday night and came away with a 42-39 win. Matt Maier led the way with 8 points which included a 3-pointer as time expired to give the Horns the victory. Chris Johnson also contributed 8 points for the Longhorns.

Freshman A – Boys’ Freshman A basketball team lost to the Terry Rangers on Tuesday 43-53. Top players on offense were Marvis Odia, Grant Applebaum, and Matthew Burger. Defensive standouts were DJ Ray and Ord Limbrick.

Varsity Boys’ Basketball v. Angleton

The Longhorn boys’ Varsity team lost a hard fought game on Friday to the Angleton Wildcats by a score of 50-47. The team was led by strong play inside from Evan Murray and Mike Ugo. Korey Joseph finished with 10 points, and Quintin Morris led the team with 12 points. The team is now 14-6 on the season and 4-1 in district. The team travels to Terry on Tuesday for the showdown of 1st place teams.

Boys’ Basketball v. Foster

Varsity – The Longhorn Varsity basketball team defeated the Foster Falcons 53-50 in an exciting game last night. With the game tied, Chris Oliver drove the length of the floor and nailed a 3-pointer at the buzzer! It was total team victory with big play from Evan Murray and 17 points from Ndy Eze off the bench. The win brings the team to 14-5 on the season and 4-0 in district. Thanks to all the fans who came out.

JV – The JV boys’ basketball team lost to the Foster Falcons in a tough game. The team was led by Brian Akwanwa, Myles Thompson and tough play inside from Chuck Ogbonna.

Freshman B – The Freshman B boys’ basketball team traveled to Foster and lost a hard fought game 43-38. Josh Okoye led the way with 8 points for the Horns. Tanner Thornton had 7 points to contribute to the scoring.

Varsity – The boys’ Varsity basketball team defeated the Lamar Consolidated Mustangs for the 1st time in school history by a score of 44-37. The team was led by Lennox Jones‘ steady play, and great energy from Chinedu Okoye and Ndy Eze off the bench. The win brings the team to 12-5 on the season and 2-0 in district.

Sophomore – The George Ranch Sophomore basketball team won against Lamar High school last night. The team was lead by Odera Ikuezuma with 13 points and Blake Heckler with 10 points.

Freshman A – Last night, the Freshman A team defeated the Lamar Mustangs 41-30. Top players on offense were Darius Russaw, Marvis Odia, and Grant Applebaum. Top players on defense were Matthew Burger, Brayden McKnight, and Jeremiah Lynch.

Boys’ Basketball v. Sweeny

Varsity – The Varsity boys’ basketball team defeated the Sweeny Bulldogs in impressive fashion by a score of 48-18. The team led 11-0 after the first, and 28-3 at halftime. The swarming defense was led by big men Chinedu Okoye, Mike Ugo and Evan Murray protecting the paint. Sophomores Dylan Collins and Dylan Luce came off the bench to spark the team. The win brings the team to 10-5 going into district play.

JV – The JV team defeated the Sweeny Bulldogs 50-49. The Longhorns were led with tough play by Langston Williams, Myles Thompson and Mike Okonkwo.

Freshman A – The boys Freshman A team beat the Sweeny Bulldogs 70-24. Top players on offense were Ugo Etufugh, Grant Applebaum, Matthew Burger, and Jevon Hill. Top players on defense were Ord Limbrick, Marvis Odia, and Josh Okoye.

Varsity Basketball v. South Grand Prairie

The boys’ basketball team pulled out a huge win yesterday for the program with a 46-39 win over a top 5 6A team out of Dallas – South Grand Prairie – in the Cy Fair Hoops Invitational. The team was led by Lennox Jones, Evan Murray, DJ Thomas and Chris Oliver.

Boys’ Basketball v. Galena Park & Cinco Ranch

Varsity – The boys’ basketball team defeated the Galena Park Yellow Jackets last Friday in a tough game 51-43. The team started off slowly and struggled shooting the ball, but they found a way to pull it out. The team was led by DJ Thomas’ tough play and great passes. Korey Joseph also came off the bench to help the team out. The win brought the team to 5 and 0 on the season. Varsity took on Cinco Ranch last night and lost a tough game to a very good team 49- 45. The Longhorn team was led by Evan Murray down low and great defense by Lennox Jones on one of the top ranked players in the city. Thanks to all the fans that came out and supported the team. The loss brings the team to 5-1.

JV – The JV boys beat Galena Park 56-35. Langston Williams, Jamarcus Taylor and Brandon Franklin led the way with good defense and scoring in double figures. The JV team lost a tough game last night to Cinco Ranch. The team was led by Langston Williams and Jamarcus Taylor.

Sophomore – The sophomore team played a very good game last night against Cinco Ranch but fell short in the second half. The team was lead by Jordan Johnson with 7 points and Odera with 14.

Freshman A – The boys basketball Freshman A team beat the Galena Park Yellow Jackets on Friday with a score of 51-34. Top scorers for the Longhorns were Marvis Odia, Dj Ray, and Colton Robertson. Top players on defense were Keynan McGrew, Ugo Etufugh, and Grant Applebaum. The boys lost to Cinco Ranch last night 51-29. Top offensive players were Ugo Etufugh, Jevon Hill, and Mathew Burger. Top players on defense were Darius Russaw, Brayden McKnight, and Gift Owhonda.

Freshman B – The Freshman B team lost last night to Cinco Ranch 38-46. Top players on offense were Matthew Maier, Ethan Miner, and Josh Okoye. Top players on defense were Morgan Obi, Roman Williams, and Haegan Hassell.
