Softball Beat Alief Taylor

softballThe Longhorn Softball team continued district play against Alief Taylor on Tuesday night. The JV squad came away with a 17-0 win behind strong pitching and hitting efforts. The varsity team also played a great game and won by a score of 17-0. The varsity team completed the first round of district with a 4 and 2 record.

Baseball Beat Pearland

baseballThe Longhorn Varsity baseball team improved to 19-1 (4-0 district) with an 11-4 win over Pearland last night. The team had 8 hits with Joseph Menefee contributing a double and 2 triples all while helping his cause on the mound. Jake Zatopek also had a triple. The Longhorns host Alief Elsik here at the Ranch on Friday.

Baseball Beat Brazoswood

baseballThe Longhorn Varsity Baseball team improved to 18-1 (3-0 district) after defeating Brazoswood 9-3 this past Friday night. The bats came alive with a Joseph Menefee homerun and winning pitcher, Brad Armstrong, getting a grand slam to help his cause. The Longhorns travel to Pearland on Tuesday to take on the 3-1 Oilers.

Girls JV Track Wins Fulshear Relays

xctrackThe girls Junior varsity placed 1st for the 5th week in a row at Fulshear Charger Relays. Top 3 finishers in each event were: Ann Rabich placing 1st in high jump and 3rd in the 100 hurdles. Robyn Chukwu placed 3rd in triple jump. In the 3200 meter run Alyssa Heikkila placed 1st and Also placed first in the 1600 meter run. Ramsa Kazi placed 3rd in the 3200 meter. Rylee Salazar placed 2nd in the 1600 meter run and won the 800 meter run. Ava Breeze placed 2nd in the 800 meter run and 2nd in the 300 meter hurdles. Kayla Randon won both the 100 meter hurdles and 300 meter hurdles. Caitlin Hargrove placed 3rd in the 100, while Savannah Creech won the 200 meter and Annalisse Thompson placed 3rd. The longhorns swept all three relays and placed first. The girls 4×100 was Kayla Stepney, Kayla Randon, Annalisse Thompson, and Savannah Creech. The girls 4×200 relay was Caitlyn Hargrove, Sharrell Aodems, Kaitlyn Kador and Kayla Stephney. The girls 4×400 relay had Grace Wahome, Savannah Creech, Skylar Wiltz and Amor Sheffield.

Softball Beat Alief Elsik

softballThe Longhorns softball team took on the Elsik Rams Friday night and came away with 2 wins. The JV won 15-0 in 3 innings. Pitching the shutout was Alyssa Osadchuk with 7 strikeouts. Leading at the plate was Kennedy Diepraam, who was 2 for 2 with 5 RBI’s. The varsity also won big with a 11-1 victory over the Rams. Pitching for the Horns was London Diller and Nevada Dolnik who combined for 11 strikeouts. Shelby Kvinta and Reese Scott who both drove in 3 runs. The Longhorns continue in district play Tuesday at Alief Taylor.

Tennis at LCISD Tourney

tennis_ball_128The George Ranch Tennis team competed in the LCISD Tournament Friday, March 24, 2017. The team had several medalist:
B Girls Singles: Chloe Redies finished in First Place
A Boys Singles: Marc Maciel finished in First Place
B Boys Single: Joshua Joe finished in Third Place
B Boys Double: Ryan Grace and Nick Luu won the Consolation bracket
B Mix Doubles: Grace Nguyen and Ben Miller finished in Third Place.
The tennis team will be traveling next Friday, March 31, 2017, to compete in the Katy ISD Tournament.

Softball vs. Pearland

softballThe Longhorn softball teams continued district play on Tuesday night against the Pearland Oilers. The JV team lost by a score of 12-1. Highlights included a triple by Izzy Llittle and a 2 for 2 effort at the plate by Jayden Smith. The varsity team started out strong behind solid pitching and defensive performances. The game was tight into the fourth inning but unfortunately the Oilers scored 4 and pulled away late. The final score was 6-0.

Baseball Beat Pearland Dawson

baseballThe Longhorn Varsity Baseball team improved to 17-1 (2-0 in District) over the break. The district wins came after two stellar pitching performances by Josh Lapierre and Joseph Menefee. Lapierre faced 24 batters and struck out 21 to get the complete game shutout. Menefee threw a no hitter against Pearland Dawson during his complete game shutout. The defense behind these guys and a few timely hits help secure the wins. The Longhorns are open this Tuesday but will host Brazoswood this Friday here at the Ranch.

Softball Beat Morton Ranch

softballOver spring break, both JV and varsity played Morton Ranch Mavericks; both teams earned a win 12-4 and 15-0 respectively. In JV action, Alyssa Osadchuck pitched 3 solid innings striking out 7 batters and giving up only 4 hits. Leading hitters were Kennedy Diepraam who went 2 for 2 with 2 RBI’s and Alyssa Osadchuck who was 2 for 3 with a home run. In the varsity game, Lexi Tovar pitched 2 solid innings of shutout softball with 5 strikeouts. Nevada Dolnik came on in relief pitching 3 strong innings and preserving the shutout. Leading hitters were Reese Scott, Shelby Kvinta and Destiny Walker who were all 2 for 2 on the night and Lexi Tovar who went 1 for 2 with a 2 run homerun.

Softball vs. Brazoswood

softballFriday, March 10 Longhorn softball took on the Buccaneers. Leading the JV offense was JJ Smith going 3 for 3 and Emily Hoefer and Izzy Little both hitting base hits. JV ended in a tie battling to come back in the last inning. George Ranch varsity softball took the lead early in the game but couldn’t hold on. Lost to Brazoswood 5-1. Offensive leaders were Kayte (KATE) Martinez, Taylor Pesina and Reese Scott.
