Varsity Tennis at Cy-Fair Tourney

tennisCongratulations to the Varsity Tennis Team at an amazing showing at the Cy Fair Varsity Tennis Tournament on Thursday. Everyone did great, but the following athletes stood out: Julia White – 3rd place Girls A Singles; Ryan Cao – 4th Place Boys B Singles; Cassie Chen and Pari Khawaja – 4th Place Girls A Doubles; Jonathan Tan and Jake Berry – Consolation Winners Boys A Doubles; Thomas Mandell and Megan Foster – 3rd Place B Mixed Doubles

Girls Varsity Track at LCISD Relays

xctrackCongratulations to the girls varsity as they won their 4th consecutive team championship at the 2017 LCISD Relays. The girls competed against some great competition and battled the winds to come out on top. In field events, Nyla Barlow set a personal record and won the girls long jump. Teammate Alexis Woods placed 4th with a season best jump. In triple jump, Alexis Woods also placed 3rd in that event. In girls pole vault, Junior Kaitlin Vasquez placed 2nd overall. In high jump, Victoria Tennon placed 2nd overall tying her season best jump. In running events, Theresa McComiskey showed out in front of the home crowd winning in true fashion the girls 1600 meter and 3200 meter run. Teammate Brooke Johnson finished 6th in the 3200. In the girls 100 meters, Mikayla Wright finished 6th running a personal best time. In the 200 meters, Camille Rutherford placed 2nd overall with a season best time. In the 100 meter hurdles, Abisola Anifowoshe finished 2nd and Brianna Franklin ran a personal best time placing 6th. In the 300 meter hurdles, freshman Munachi Anusieum finished 3rd and Jazmine George finished 4th. In the girls 400 meter run, Nyla Barlow finished 3rd and Victoria Tennon finished 5th. The quartet of Nyla Barlow, Alexis Woods, Jazmine George and Mikayla Wright won the 4 by 100 meter relay running their best time of the season. The girls 4 by 200 meter relay finished 2nd. The girls compete at Katy Champion Relays today at Katy High School starting at 3:15 pm.

Girls JV Track at Terry Relays

xctrackCongratulations to the Girls Junior Varsity as they continued their team champion winning streak at Terry Ranger Relays last week. Top 3 finishers in the 3200 were Alyssa Heikkila placing 1st, Ramsa Kazi 2nd and Cami Lidisky 3rd. In the girls 4 by 100 relay, the girls placed 2nd with Savannah Creech, Caitlyne Hargrove, Harmony Harris and Annalisse Thompson. In the girls 800 meters, Ava Breeze placed 2nd overall and Rylee Salazar placed 3rd. In the girls 100 meter hurdles, Kayla Randon won the event. In the girls 100 meters, Caitlyne Hargrove placed 2nd and Sharrell Odems placed 3rd. The girls 4 by 200 meters won the event with Kaitlyne Kador, Savannah Creech, Annalisse Thompson and Harmony Harris. In the girls 400 meters, Stephanie Chukwu placed 2nd. In the girls 300 meters, Ava Breeze finished first and close behind he was teammate Kayla Randon with a 2nd place finish. In the girls 200 meters, Annalisse Thompson finished 3rd overall. In the girls 1600 meters, Alyssa Heikkila finished 1st and Rylee Salazar finished 2nd in that event. The girls 4 by 400 meter relay placed 1st with Amor Sheffield, Stephanie Chukwu, Savannah Creech and Grace Wahome. In field events, Stephanie Chukwu won and Robyn Chukwu placed 2nd. In girls long jump Sharrell Odems placed 1st overall. The girls compete today at Falcon Relays at Foster High School at 4:30pm.

Boys Track at LCISD Relays

xctrackThe Varsity boys track team competed at the Annual LCISD relays on Friday. The team finished 2nd over all. There were many good performances that day. In the 1600M run, Will Lorn runs a season best of 4:45 with a second place finish. In the 3200M run, Joshua Triesch finished 2nd 10:16 and Jimmy Olmos finished 3rd with a 10:20. in the 200M, Jayson Baldridge won with a personal best and the fastest time in Texas with 21.11. Champion Allison wins the 400M with a 47.54 – the fastest time in 6A. In the 110 hurdles, Colton Pounders finished 2nd with a personal best of 15.41 and finished 3rd in the 300 hurdles with a personal best of 39.98. In Pole Vault, the Longhorn vaulters took a clean sweep. Taking 1st 2nd and 3rd are Jacob Adair, Robert Platt and Nathan Grayson. Vaulting 15ft for Jacob and Robert and 13ft for Nathan Grayson. In Long Jump, Dylan Swain takes 2nd with a personal best of 22ft 5in. In High jump, JaMarkus Taylor finished 3rd with a personal best of 6ft 2in. To end the meet, the boys 4×4 team took 2nd. Those members were Champion Allison, Avery Veiseh, Colton Pounders and Jayson Baldridge. The Longhorns will be competing at the Katy Meet of Champions Thursday at 3pm.

Tennis at Spring Branch Tourney

tennisCongratulations the varsity tennis team on competing hard at the Spring Branch Tournament. Hannah Rosenbaum and Will Blanco brought home third in the mixed doubles draw. Ryan Cao brought home 1st in the boys B singles draw. Also special shout out to Chloe Redies for taking 4th in the girls singles draw, Marc Maciel for taking 9th in the Today’s Stars boy’s singles draw and the doubles team of Jonathan Tan and Jake Berry for taking 5th in the boys doubles draw.

Softball Undefeated at LCISD Tourney

softballThe Longhorn softball team hosted the LCISD tournament this weekend and went 6-0. They had wins over Sealy, Cy Creek, Brazosport, Needville, Stratford and Sweeny. They started off by beating Sealy, 12-5. Hitting was led by Kayte Martinez and Taylor Pesina, each with 4 RBI’s. In the 9-3 win over Cy Creek, London Diller got the win pitching. Leading the Horns at the plate were Remme Loos and Reese Scott who both scored 2 runs. Against Brazosport Nevada Dolnik pitched the team to a 5-2 win. She had 9 strikeouts in the 5 innings. Diller led the team at the plate going 3 for 3 with a homerun. Larissa Eversole also hit her first homerun of the season. The Horns had a scrappy 8-4 win over Needville, getting the win was Diller. Lexi Tovar gave up no hits in the Horns 12-0 win over Stratford. Reese Scott and Tovar led the Horns with 2 RBI’s each. Finishing up the tournament the Longhorns beat Sweeny 6-1. Diller got the win and had 8 strikeouts in the 5 innings. Diller and Pesina led the Horns at the plate. Diller had a 3 Run homerun and Pesina had 2 RBI’s. The Longhorns continue district play versus Brazoswood on Friday at the Ranch.

Varsity Baseball Beat Montgomery

baseballThe Varsity Baseball team hosted Montgomery Tuesday night and improved to 7-0 with a 16-8 victory over the Bears. The team fired the bats up with 10 total hits with several multiple base hits including a HR. The Longhorns will host the LCISD Tournament beginning Thursday and face some talented teams. Come out and support the Longhorn Baseball and Softball teams.

Softball Beat Pearland Dawson

softballTuesday night the longhorn JV and varsity softball teams took on the Pearland Dawson Eagles in district play. The JV team won 7-4 behind a strong pitching effort from Alyssa Osadchuck. The leading hitters were Emily Hoefer, Christina kuczynski, Rebekah Groppe, and Jayden Smith. The longhorn varsity won a hard fought game by a score of 1-0. London Diller pitched a complete game shut out giving up only 3 hits and striking out 10. Leading hitters were Taylor Pesina who went 2 for 3 and London Diller who drove in the only run of the game.

Varsity Baseball at Spring Branch ISD Tournament

baseball_gloves_128The Varsity Baseball team started their season off at the Spring Branch ISD Tournament and came away with a 6-0 record. The Longhorns beat Cy Ranch 5-4, Stratford 11-4, Southlake Carroll 7-2, Elkins 16-3 (5 innings), Lufkin 10-2, and Memorial 8-1 in 8 innings. The Longhorns will host Montgomery on Tuesday night and the LCISD Tournament beginning Thursday.

Varsity Tennis at Alief Tennis Tournament

tennis_ball_128This past Friday the GRHS Varsity tennis team competed in the Alief Tennis Tournament. Marc Maciel and Ryan Cao both fought hard in a very difficult A Boys Singles Draw. Megan Foster and Thomas Mandell Won 1st place in the B Mixed Doubles Draw. George Ranch brought 2 medals home in the B Girls Singles Draw; Grace Nguyen won the consolation medal and Chloe Redies brought home 3rd place.
