Aquatics at State Championship

swimming_goggles_128GRHS swam at the 6A STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS OVER THE WEEKEND.

  • Ryan Grote, Aaron O’Reilly, Jacob Gamble, and Camp Priest got 23rd in the 400 freestyle relay.
  • Gracie Liang got 18th in 1 meter diving.
  • Peyton Quattlebaum got 9th in the 200 freestyle breaking her own school record. Later on in the meet, Peyton got our 1st girls state medal in the 500 freestyle by taking 3rd and getting bronze.
  • Riley Murray got 11th in the 50 freestyle.
  • Riley and Peyton were joined by Charlotte Johansen and Kate Hartman to take 15th over all int he 400 freestyle relay.

The girls finished 20th overall in total point standings. Congrats to all swimmers and divers

Girls Soccer Beat Alief Hastings

soccer_ball_128Friday night the Longhorns took on the Hastings Bears from Alief. The JV began the evening with a solid 3-1 win with goals being scored by Eden Garver with 2 and Litzy Vasquez with 1. The goals were assisted by Litzy, Eden, and Sienna Espindola. Others stepping up playing a strong game were Nailea Badillo, Josseline Garay and Sophie Edwards. The varsity entered the game tied for first in district play. They scored by Gabby Galvan and Jordan Shimaitis and assisted by Paige Klase and Emma Carlson. The Longhorns travel to Pearland Dawson to take on the Lady Eagles Tuesday.

Boys Soccer vs. Alief Hastings

soccer_ball_128The Boys JV Maroon soccer team lost to Hastings 4-0 on Friday. The Varsity Boys soccer team lost to Hastings 3-0 on Friday. All three teams will be back in action on Tuesday here at the Ranch against Pearland Dawson.

Boy’s Varsity Basketball Beat Alief Taylor

basketball_ball_128The Boys Basketball team ended the season in exciting fashion with a buzzer beating 3 by Charles Smith to defeat Alief Taylor 46-44. The team was led in scoring by Quintin Morris and McKinley Harris. What a way to end the year on Parent Night. Coach Jones is so proud of the team they became.

Girl’s Varsity Soccer Beat Alief Taylor

soccer_ball_128After the crazy weather Tuesday settled down the Longhorn girls soccer team got to work against the Taylor Lady Lions. The girls scored early and often winning 8-0. Gabby Galvan led the scoring with 2 goals with Paige Klase, Ashley Vega, Jenna Murray, Riley Grafe, Jordan Shimaitis and Emma Carlson all adding 1 goal. Shimaitis added 3 assist, Grafe with 2 and Celeste Ruiz and Klase each adding one. Solid play came from Jenna Sanders, Dany Torres, Tayler Jasek and Kasey Davis. The girls finished the first round in a 3 way tie for first place. Come out and support them in the second round!

Varsity Girl’s Soccer Beat Alief Elsik

soccer_ball_128The girls soccer team traveled to Elsik Friday night to take on the Lady Rams. The JV team lost a close 2-1 game. The lone goal on the night was scored by Eden Garver from a Noely Herandez assist. The varsity team took control of the game early against the Lady Rams and racked up a 3-0 win. Goals were scored by Jordan Shimaitis, Paige Klase and Riley Murray. Kasey Davis and Gabby Galvan both assisted on the night. Solid play came from Jenna Sanders, Lara Olabisi and Grace Ramirez. The Longhorns will host the Lady Lions of Alief Taylor on Friday. Come out and support your Longhorns

Boy’s Soccer vs. Alief Elsik

soccer_ball_128The JV Black soccer team lost to Elsik 6-2 on Friday night. Goals were scored by Nftalem Tekie & Assoah Ndomo. The JV Maroon soccer team lost to Elsik 3-0 on Friday. The Varsity Boys Soccer team lost to Elsik 3-0 on Friday night.

Boy’s Soccer beat Pearland

soccer_ball_128The GRHS Boys JV Maroon Soccer team defeated Pearland on Tuesday night. The lone goal was scored by sophomore Gabriel Centeno.  The GRHS Varsity Boys Soccer team defeated Pearland 3-1 on Tuesday night. 2 goals were scored by Senior Striker JP Nava and 1 goal was scored by Sophomore Striker Yemi Akintunde. 2 assists were also had by Junior Christian Metoyer.

Girl’s Soccer beat Pearland

soccer_ball_128The Longhorns hosted the Lady Oilers from Pearland last night. The JV fought a tough defensive battle giving up the only score in the game off a corner kick. The effort was led by Eden Garver, Nailea Badillo, and Keyla Fortul. The varsity squared off against the district leading Oilers and defeated them 1-0 off a Gabby Galvan goal. A superb defensive effort was led by Jenna Murray, Jenna Sanders, Emilee Ulke, Kasey Davis. The Longhorns travel to Alief Elsik to take on the Lady Rams Friday.
